"Is that so?" Sebastian said, his gaze freezing. "In that case, let’s wait and see if that is indeed our fate. If you have nothing else to say, Miss Roberts, please leave."
Everly looked at his cold, shadowed eyes one last time before turning and walking away.
Once the office door was sealed shut, Sebastian stood up and walked back to his desk. He picked up his phone and checked it, but there were no messages. Had I guessed wrong?
A knock sounded, and Foster entered, bowing respectfully. "I’ve looked into it. Everly threatened the receptionists, claiming she was the future lady of Austine Financial Group to force her way in. Because of the recent news surrounding the two of you, the staff assumed she was indeed your future wife and didn't dare stop her."
Sebastian tossed the phone back onto the desk. He looked at Foster, his aura radiating a bone-chilling cold. "You know the company’s rules and regulations. I shouldn't have to tell you how to handle this breach."
"Yes, sir. I understand," Foster replied.
"What is the progress on Unno’s end?" Sebastian asked, his voice low. He had no patience left. Every time he thought of that old fox Cary, he felt a visceral urge to tear him apart.
"They’re in that same area; they can't have gone far," Sebastian said, his eyes flashing with a predatory light. "They know their only chance of dealing a fatal blow to me is by staying united. If they split up, I’ll pick them off one by one. Now that three of them have been compromised, the remaining two are bound to start wavering. Tell Unno to leak the recent Murica news to them. Specifically, make sure they hear exactly what that old fox Cary has been saying behind their backs. The choice is theirs."
Foster’s eyes lit up with understanding. "You want them to turn on each other. Once they realize Cary’s true endgame, suspicion will take root. Once there’s a rift in their alliance, Cary’s 'weapon' won't be nearly as effective."
Sebastian sat back in his chair, a cruel smirk playing on his lips. "That old man wants to play the game of 'killing the donkey once the grinding is done.' I’ll respond with a strategy of sowing discord. We’ll see who ends up with permanent regrets first."
