She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 774

An older researcher shook his head, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "So you lose your notes and immediately claim they were stolen? Stolen from a pile of files this big? Loyce, isn't it more likely that you didn't write anything of value—or maybe you just wrote down a bunch of baseless guesses—and now you're making up excuses to save face?"

"Exactly. Professor Philips was kind enough to come check on your progress, and you clearly have zero interest in actually learning."

"Looks like Professor Bonick's recommendation isn't worth much after all."

The room echoed with their overlapping insults and blatant mockery.

Philips raised a hand, silencing his team, though the look in his eyes clearly said, *'I knew it.'*

He looked at Loyce, his tone turning strict. "Loyce, as a student, you should never lie to your mentors. I don't know how you managed to sweet-talk Bonick into sending you here, but if you can't provide your notes to prove your competence, I'm afraid I can't assess whether you're qualified to join this lab. You can pack your bags and go home."

"If you leave right now, I won't expose your lies to Bonick. At least you'll still be able to graduate."

As soon as Philips told her to leave, Loyce noticed the eager anticipation in the eyes of several researchers. They desperately wanted her gone.

And that confirmed the exact reason why this multi-million dollar project hadn't made any real progress.

"Professor Philips, don't be in such a rush to kick me out. I actually agree with you—science is a serious matter. It can't rely on imagination and empty talk." Loyce took two steps forward, her gaze sweeping over their sneering faces before locking onto Philips. "So, shouldn't we have a very serious discussion about some highly unscientific practices going on in this lab over the past few years?"

Philips frowned. "What are you talking about?"

"My notebook might be gone, but that was just an auxiliary tool. I only wrote things down to make it easier to present them to you." Loyce turned to the mountain of files, casually scanned it, and pulled out a thick research log.

"Obviously, you've already read my findings."

Philips felt a sudden knot of dread form in his stomach. "You arrogant child, don't make wild accusations! No one is going to take the fall for your laziness and mistakes!"
