Isabelle quickly pushed against his chest. She couldn’t possibly sit on his lap right now.

Damian frowned and settled for simply holding her close in his arms.

Damian wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. He just wanted to close his eyes quietly and feel her presence beside him.

It had been so long since he’d last felt her warmth that he’d almost forgotten her familiar scent.

Damian was being so clingy that Isabelle lost her focus on the wedding photos. She decided she would just keep them all, extra

She took her hand off the mouse and found his hand resting on her lower abdomen. She laced her fingers through his.

“I missed you too,” Isabelle said softly.

“You heartless woman. Only saying it now? I thought you hadn’t missed me at all,” Damian murmured, nuzzling closer and burying his face in the curve of her neck.

Feeling a playful need to mark the moment, he left a gentle kiss on her neck.

Isabelle just felt a light, tickling sensation.

Damian kissed her again, and his hand slipped under her blouse, deftly undoing the buttons at her back before sliding around to her front.

His warm lips grazed her earlobe, and his kisses trailed down from her cheek.

Isabelle leaned back softly against the chair, biting her lip gently, not daring to make a sound.

“Shameless,” Isabelle muttered under her breath.

Damian burst out laughing.

After nearly a month apart, the two finally sat down to dinner together again. The warmth of the moment felt especially harmonious after all the recent strain.

Damian served her some vegetables, and Isabelle added a slice of roasted meat to his plate. They fussed over each other like two children playing house.

“Okay, that’s enough. Eat properly now,” Isabelle giggled.

Damian ate while watching her. His appetite was better today than it had been in weeks.

“Have you settled in here?”

“It’s lovely. It just feels a bit empty when I’m alone. It would be perfect if you were here every day,” Isabelle said, a soft smile on her lips.
