The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 204

Victoria and Hawk watched Jonah's over-the-top performance, sharing a look of speechlessness.

He was really milking the 'scorned lover' routine.

The veins on Elias's temple throbbed. "Hawk," he said in a cold voice.

Hawk understood immediately. He stepped forward, clamped a hand over Jonah's mouth, and half-dragged, half-carried him to another car.

Suddenly, the area in front of the motel, which had been buzzing with Jonah's chatter, fell silent.

Victoria considered her words for a moment, then looked up at Elias. "Thank you for last night."

She wasn't ungrateful.

No matter what had happened between them last night, one thing was clear: if it hadn't been for Elias, she likely wouldn't have escaped the thugs' scheme.

Elias stared at her, his mind flashing back to when he had entered the bathroom in the middle of the night and heard her soft whisper in her sleep.

She had been calling Tobias's name.

His dark eyes hardened. He averted his gaze, walked directly to his Maybach, and got in.

Though Elias's expression was blank, Victoria could clearly feel the abrupt shift in his mood.

He was angry…

Did she say something wrong?

Victoria frowned slightly, not understanding the reason for his sudden mood swing. The rear window of the Maybach lowered halfway, and Elias's cold voice cut through the air. "Get in."

Her train of thought was broken.

She turned to meet Elias's deep-set eyes and suddenly realized she had been worrying about his feelings. But... they were no longer connected. Why should she care if he was happy or not?

Realizing this, Victoria walked over to the Maybach and held out the trench coat.

"I still have things to do here. I can find my own way back when I'm done," she said. "Here's your coat. Also..."

"Mr. Shawn, we're divorced."

"Please, stop having me followed."

Last night, things had been urgent, and her mind had been a mess, so she hadn't thought twice about Elias's appearance.

But now, perhaps due to his sudden shift in mood, she was thinking more clearly.

No one knew she was in Rivertown except Saul Flint.

And Saul would never tell Elias.

Yet, he had shown up at just the right moment. With a little thought, it was obvious what Elias had done. She just didn't understand his motive for having her followed.

Victoria turned and walked away.

Elias stared at the trench coat, his handsome face growing colder by the second.

Not far away, Jonah and Hawk were leaning against their car window, watching the scene unfold.
