The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 279

The exclamation echoed through the hall.

Grant's voice boomed with such power that everyone present heard him crystal clear. Nearly in unison, their eyes widened in disbelief.

The director froze, taking a dozen seconds to process the words. Thinking he must have misheard, he stammered with a nervous laugh, "M-Mr. Rhodes, you must be joking, right? W-what imposter? Who's an imposter?"

"What, are you deaf? Can't you understand me?" Grant's face darkened as he turned to the now deathly pale Genevieve. He enunciated each word with chilling clarity: "I said, she is an imposter!"

The director's expression went rigid.

Genevieve stumbled back two steps.

Grant turned to his two assistants, his displeasure evident. "I want you to find out exactly who started this rumor that she's my student. Spreading this nonsense without even asking if I'd have her... I'll sue her into the ground! I'm not ready to be buried yet, no matter what these rumors suggest!"

"Yes, sir!" they replied in unison.

The director, still struggling to recover, glanced between Genevieve and Grant. He swallowed hard, feeling for the first time like he was caught between a rock and a hard place. He couldn't afford to offend either of them. One was the fiancée of Elias Shawn, the head of The Shawn Group, and the other was a titan whose slightest disapproval could shake the entire architectural world.

"Mr. Rhodes, Miss Vale... is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"

"No misunderstanding!" Grant declared. "I, Grant Rhodes, have one student, and it is most certainly not her!"

His scalp tingling, the director saw Genevieve standing silently with her lips pressed together and knew, deep down, what the answer was.

This time... he had really messed with the wrong person.

The immediate priority was to appease Grant. The director weighed his options and asked, "Then... may I ask who the student you're referring to is, Mr. Rhodes?"

"Victoria!"

Grant slammed his cane on the floor and lifted his chin with a touch of pride. "She is my chosen successor, the one who will carry on my legacy!"

A wave of shocked murmurs rippled through the room.

The crowd, just recovering from the shock of 'Genevieve pretending to be Mr. Rhodes's student,' was plunged into another wave of astonishment. It was impossible! How could it be Victoria? How was that even possible?

The director asked, "Mr. Rhodes, is the Victoria you're talking about the same one from the internet—"
