The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 314

At the hospital.

The VIP ward had a private elevator.

With a soft chime, the elevator doors slid open. Seeing someone inside, Garnett and Mr. Flint waited by the entrance for them to exit.

But the person in the elevator was none other than Genevieve.

Genevieve’s expression flickered when she saw Garnett. She instinctively wanted to lower her head and hide her face, but then a thought occurred to her: Garnett probably didn’t know who she was.

Or, more accurately, he had seen her before but most likely didn’t remember her.

It was back in their freshman year of high school. On Genevieve's birthday, Victoria had taken her to a high-end restaurant she had always wanted to try. Afterward, Garnett came to pick Victoria up.

He had affectionately ruffled Victoria’s hair, asking with concern if she’d had enough to eat.

Victoria had naturally linked her arm with his, acting playful and sweet. The scene was warm and beautiful, while Genevieve, standing beside Victoria, felt completely out of place.

Thinking back on it now, that was probably the first time Genevieve had ever felt jealous of Victoria.

Why was it that she had to try so hard to please Mr. and Mrs. Vale, only to be met with their cold ridicule, while Victoria could have Garnett’s doting affection without doing a thing?

It wasn't fair.

Genevieve’s hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into tight fists.

The wind that night had been cool, carrying the last hint of autumn before winter set in. Unconsciously, a seed of resentment had been planted in her heart. As time passed, that seed took root, sprouted, and grew into a towering, leafy tree.

Just as she expected, Garnett didn't remember her.

“Miss, are you getting out?” Garnett asked when Genevieve didn’t move.

Masking the sinister look in her eyes, Genevieve curved her lips into a soft, kind smile. “No, I’m not.”

Hearing this, Garnett and Mr. Flint stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

She glanced up at the elevator buttons, remembering that she had seen Garnett on the VIP ward floor.

There were only a few VIP rooms, and they were always in high demand. Getting one required not just money, but also influence.

With Victoria and The Sanger Group's pitifully small cash flow, there was no way they could have arranged for an ex-convict fresh out of prison to be placed in a VIP ward.

Unless it was the Shawns.

The hospital was backed by The Shawn Group. If the Shawns requested a VIP room, the hospital administration would have no reason to refuse; it would only be a matter of time.

And to get Garnett into a VIP room the moment he was released from prison, only two people in the Shawn family had that kind of power.

One was Old Mr. Shawn, but he wasn't in the capital right now. He was too far away to have any influence, even if he wanted to help.

The other…

Was Elias.
