The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 317

She crossed her arms, her smirk fading slightly. "Three years ago, I joined The Sanger Group's architectural design department as an intern. I genuinely wanted to do great work. I knew the company was preparing for a huge project and was soliciting design ideas from within, promising a $500,000 prize to whoever's concept was chosen."

"At the time, I thought I had to come up with a brilliant idea, win that money, and go study abroad. Even though I was incredibly jealous of Victoria, I never thought of doing anything malicious."

"After that, I was in the office drawing before dawn and wouldn't leave until after midnight. I went six months without seeing the sun. When the time finally came to submit ideas and select interns for the project, I was ready."

"As expected, my design concept was chosen."

"But why? Why was it so unfair to me! The design I poured my heart and soul into was credited to my mentor in the same group. I fought so hard to get on that project, and just when I was about to succeed, they told me all the spots were filled!"

"Why! Just because I had no connections, while the other person competing with me was my mentor's niece, all my hard work had to be for nothing!"

Genevieve grew more agitated as she spoke. "I wouldn't accept it. No, why should I have to accept it!"

Garnett's heart seized, sharp pains shooting through his chest. He struggled to breathe. "You could have reported this to the HR department. They would have—"

"HR?" Genevieve laughed as if she'd heard the funniest joke in the world. "HR was in his pocket. I figured it out later. Relying on them was pointless. It was better to rely on myself. I decided to make all of you pay!"

Her voice turned sinister. "And it turns out fate was on my side. I accidentally discovered evidence that my mentor had been secretly leaking several of The Sanger Group's projects to a competitor. I confronted him with it. He turned pale with fright and knelt on the floor, begging me not to report him."

"Do you know what he said to me when he stole my design, Mr. Sanger? He said I should be grateful to him. Otherwise, a nobody like me would create things that no one would ever appreciate!"

"Later, seeing him kneeling before me, I was so happy. I smiled as I stepped on his face and threw every one of his humiliating words right back at him! But that wasn't enough. The final blueprints for the project had already been approved. I forced him to create a doctored set. The one you signed was perfectly fine. But the one given to the construction team was the one I'd altered. That blueprint, once implemented, was designed to cause a collapse halfway through construction!"
