After Hawk told Elias about Abbey turning herself in, Elias left the company and headed for the hospital.

Halfway there, he received a call from the hospital informing him that Garnett had fallen down a flight of stairs in the garden and was unconscious, currently in emergency care.

The moment he hung up, Hawk experienced for the first time what breakneck speed truly felt like. A thirty-minute drive became an eighteen-minute blur as Elias floored it, hitting over a hundred miles an hour.

They screeched to a halt at the hospital and ran straight for Garnett’s special care unit. They found Mr. Flint, who told them Victoria had gone out.

Hawk checked the security footage and felt a sense of dread wash over him.

After leaving the monitoring room, Victoria had gone directly to Genevieve’s room.

Elias’s expression shifted the moment he heard Hawk's report. He strode toward the elevators, heading for Genevieve’s floor.

Just as they stepped out of the elevator, they heard a nurse calling for security, shouting about a fight in room 902 and telling them to break it up.

902 was Genevieve's room.

Before Hawk could even process it, Elias broke into a run, sprinting toward the room.

Hawk scrambled to follow him.

He burst through the door, but the scene that met his eyes made his pupils contract and his heart nearly stop.

Victoria was holding a knife aimed at Genevieve. But Elias was there, his bare hand wrapped around the blade, physically stopping her from thrusting it forward.

The sharp blade had instantly sliced through Elias’s palm. Bright crimson blood stained the metal and dripped onto the floor.

Everyone froze.

Including Victoria.

The murderous chill in her eyes hadn't faded. When she saw the blood, her first instinct was to pull the knife back.

But Elias, thinking she was trying to attack again, tightened his grip. The blade cut deeper into his palm, and the blood flowed even faster.

“Elias!”

“Mr. Shawn!”

Genevieve and Hawk snapped back to reality at the same time, crying out in alarm.

Hawk started to move forward, but Elias’s deep voice cut him off. “Hawk, get a doctor!”

Hawk paused for a second before turning and running to find a doctor.
