As Genevieve threw herself toward Elias, his gaze remained frosty. He gave her a cold look and subtly sidestepped her.
“Elias…”
Genevieve registered his movement, her pupils constricting. Before she could react, she stumbled forward, losing her balance.
Hawk had just walked into the room. He barely had time to assess the situation before Genevieve fell right into his arms. She let out a quiet sigh of relief.
But a second later, Hawk seemed startled and quickly stepped back.
Genevieve’s feet slipped. With a cry of pain, she fell hard onto the cold floor.
The impact sent a tearing pain through the wound in her shoulder blade. Her vision went black for a moment, and her forehead was instantly beaded with a cold sweat.
Victoria turned, her gaze lingering on Elias for a second before shifting back to Genevieve. She started walking toward her, her steps deliberate and menacing.
Seeing this, Genevieve desperately tried to stand, but her legs felt weak and refused to cooperate.
Victoria’s figure grew larger and larger in her vision, like a demon from hell coming to claim her soul. Consumed by terror, Genevieve’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.
Ignoring the pain, she used her hands to shuffle backward across the floor, her voice a hoarse and desperate cry.
“Stay back! Don’t come near me! Ah!”
Victoria, however, seemed not to hear her. Her pace was steady, and each step felt like it was landing directly on Genevieve’s heart.
In Genevieve’s eyes, Victoria was an executioner, slowly torturing her mind and body with a bloody knife. The endless torment brought her to the brink of collapse.
Torn between pain and fear, Genevieve felt like she was about to faint. In a final, desperate act, she reached out and grabbed the hem of Elias’s pants, begging through her tears.
“Elias, Elias, please, save me! Save me! Victoria’s lost her mind! She’s really going to kill me!”
Just as she finished speaking, Victoria was upon her.
Genevieve stared in horror at the switchblade in Victoria’s right hand. The blade was slick with her own blood, a glaring, crimson red. The thick, metallic smell filled her nostrils as blood dripped from the blade onto the floor.
Genevieve’s breath hitched, and she continued to plead tearfully, “Elias, save me! Have you forgotten how I saved you five years ago? You said you owed me your life! Are you just going to stand there and watch her kill me?”
The mention of “five years ago” made Elias’s eyes darken instantly. His expression was complicated, but he remained silent.
