The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 210

Patti wouldn’t stop fussing about how you could barely tell Catherine was pregnant. She nagged her all the way out the door.

On the drive home, Catherine called Lorinda and told her about running into Lance.

“It’s like the universe is determined to make this pregnancy as dramatic as possible. Seriously, what’s Lance doing at the gynecologist? Does he secretly have women’s problems or something?”

Lorinda’s heart skipped a beat. She listened, nervous and a little annoyed.

Catherine checked the clock as she turned down a side street. “I’ll come over to your place. What do you want to eat? I’ll grab it on my way.”

“Get me a slice of mille crepe cake, and...” Lorinda never finished her sentence. The call dropped.

Lance was calling.

She picked up. “Lance?”

“Pick me up at Azure Heights at ten tonight.” His voice was calm, almost bored.

“Okay,” she replied.

Azure Heights was the most exclusive club in Cabinda. Just setting foot in the place meant you had money and connections. Lance barely had time for places like that, though. He was always working.

When Lorinda found out Catherine had to go fetch him that late, she cursed Lance for being so heartless, making a pregnant woman run errands in the middle of the night.

“High salaries don’t come easy,” Catherine said. She was used to this hectic routine by now. Still, something about Patti’s words stuck with her, stirring up a wave of guilt for the baby she was carrying. Catherine tried to eat more at every meal, but her job drained her energy so fast she could never seem to get enough nutrition.

“Harrell’s actually pretty cute,” Lorinda said later, scrolling through his pictures online.

“What’s he like in real life?” she asked.
