Catherine tried to lift her spirits. “Once we find the right nanny, I’ll take a day off and we’ll go shopping together. You could use a little fun.”

Lorinda’s eyes lit up right away. “I heard the Vogue Galleria headquarters is in Eldervale. Want to check it out with me?”

“Absolutely.”

It only took a few words from Catherine to bring Lorinda back to life. Soon, the two of them were already making plans, chatting excitedly about where they’d go first.

Half an hour later, they arrived at Serene Beginnings Postnatal Care. Catherine got out of the car, locked it, and joined Lorinda, who pushed Jasper’s stroller inside.

A receptionist in a soft purple cotton uniform greeted them with a warm smile. She knelt down next to Jasper, cooing at him, and glanced up at the women.

“Are you here to tour our postpartum care center, or are you looking for a nanny?”

Lorinda started, “We’re here to—”

“To find a nanny,” Catherine jumped in, smoothly cutting her off.

Scanning the lobby, Catherine immediately noticed Adela stepping out of the elevator with a woman who couldn’t have been more than twenty-two. The young woman’s hair fell in loose waves and she wore a short skirt. Her baby bump was impossible to miss.

That has to be the Lee family’s daughter-in-law, Catherine thought.

“Lorinda, why don’t you take a look around? I just spotted someone I know. I’ll go say hi,” Catherine said, giving her a meaningful look.

Lorinda caught the hint that Catherine’s pregnancy was still under wraps. She nodded, then let the receptionist lead her and Jasper toward the nanny selection area.

Catherine walked over to Adela, who had already spotted her.

“Catherine, what a surprise. What brings you here?” Adela’s eyes widened.

“I’m just helping a friend pick out a nanny,” Catherine replied, offering a polite smile. “It’s good to see you, Adela.”

Adela smiled back. “You’re so young, and you aren’t married, right? I wouldn’t have expected to see you here.”
