The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 334

She’d done all of this just to marry Lance. How could they just end it now?

Sarah tightened her arm around Adelina, covering up her anxious fidgeting.

“This is ridiculous,” Belinda snapped, her voice sharp. “Our family could find any daughter-in-law we wanted. Why is it that ever since we got involved with the Green family, there’s been nothing but drama? The whole world knows about this engagement, and now you’re telling me it’s off? Sarah, instead of using this as a bargaining chip against me, maybe you should take a good look at Adelina herself.”

Sophia flinched at Belinda’s outburst and moved closer to Fiona, who closed her eyes, either trying to block out the chaos or maybe just not wanting to watch her friends turn on each other.

“This whole engagement is a circus, and everyone’s watching. Both families are at fault here,” Garrison said, his face dark. “If the Green family can’t accept this, then forget it. The wedding’s off.” He stood up and walked upstairs, leaving the whole room in tense silence.

Sarah knew how to handle Belinda, but she’d forgotten about Garrison. She clamped her mouth shut, her face twisting with frustration.

“Ableson, Fiona, I’m sorry to drag you into this mess again,” Daniel said, rising to his feet and nodding to them.

“A wedding is supposed to be something to celebrate. If it’s not, it just turns people into enemies. There’s nothing wrong between Adelina and Lance. The only problem is Catherine. We shouldn’t have barged in here today. On behalf of the Green family and Adelina, I want to apologize.”

He turned to Belinda. “This engagement has already brought enough trouble to the James family. Canceling it now would just make us look worse. Why not meet halfway? We’ll let go of the whole Eldervale thing if you have Lance come home right away and fire Catherine. Would that work for you?”

Belinda just wanted to cut through all the drama. She had a gut feeling Lance went to Eldervale because of Catherine. If Catherine was gone, everything would calm down. She was about to agree, but then—

Ableson spoke up, his voice steady. “You call that meeting halfway? That sounds more like us giving up twice as much. You want Lance to come home and fire Catherine. If he’s not in Eldervale for work, that’s one thing, but what if he is? Are you really asking him to risk his job for your family?”
