The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 362

Catherine gave Jasper’s cheek a gentle squeeze.

“He was just sick, that’s all. He stayed over at my place for one night.”

“He’s better now?” Lorinda asked, settling back on the sofa with Jasper in her arms.

Catherine slipped off her coat, sat down beside them, and took Jasper into her own lap.

“Pretty much. Sophia’s here now, so she’ll be looking after him.”

Lorinda let out a drawn-out “Ohhh,” her tone teasing. “No wonder you didn’t bring him back right away. He’s got someone to take care of him now. But wait, Sophia? Isn’t she supposed to be Lance’s fiancée?”

With the wedding coming up, those two should have been inseparable right now.

The mention of Adelina made Catherine’s smile falter for a moment.

“I don’t know,” she answered quietly.

Lorinda scooped Jasper back up from her.

“Alright, let your godmother go wash her hands and change. Then we can eat.”

The nanny had already finished setting dinner out.

Catherine headed upstairs, washed up quickly, changed into some comfy loungewear, and went next door to Lorinda’s place.

The nanny’s cooking was always spot on, especially her southern-style stir fry.

Even Catherine, who was usually indifferent to food, couldn’t stop complimenting the dishes. Lorinda, who loved to eat, was in heaven.

“If you’re free tomorrow, come with me to the mall. I need to try on some dresses for a party,” Lorinda said between bites.

Catherine planned to get Sophia settled in at work the next morning, then leave early in the afternoon to get ready for the evening event.

Lorinda nodded. “Perfect. Jasper needs some new clothes for the season anyway. It’s still pretty cool in Cabinda, but here in Eldervale it feels like summer already.”

“Sure, but after we shop I need to head straight to the party. You’ll have to take Jasper home by yourself.”

Catherine glanced at Jasper. “You sure you can handle him on your own?”

“I’ll ask Alexa to come with me.”
