The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 438

“You’re asking me?” Lance looked at him, his tone flat.

Aaron didn’t say a word. The Lee family’s attitude toward Catherine was weird, no doubt about it. But even if he wanted to investigate, he needed a place to start. Without a direction, he’d just be running in circles.

“Check out every possibility you can think of.”

Lance barely moved his lips, but just like that, Aaron was stuck with a mountain of work. He almost wanted to beg for a break, but swallowed it down. Complaining wouldn’t change anything. Lance didn’t care if he worked himself to the bone, he only cared about results.

“Yes, sir.”

A knock sounded at the office door. Lance ended the call and said quietly, “Come in.”

Letty walked in, her face tense and worried. “Lance, Belinda is here.”

“Who?” Lance frowned, turning in his chair.

“Belinda,” Letty repeated.

She had barely finished speaking when Belinda pushed the door open fully and strode inside.

“What’s wrong? Your mom shows up and you’re not even a little happy?”

Lance gave Letty a look. She got the message and slipped out of the room.

“You could’ve given me a heads up,” he said.

Belinda stood in the middle of the office, glancing around. “I wanted to drop in and see if you were up to anything shady.”

Lance’s eyes flickered as he sat down. “What could I possibly be doing?”

“If you’re not up to anything, then why are you still hanging around in Eldervale?” Belinda sat across from him. “Sarah and I have practically finished sorting out the wedding. And here you are, hiding out. I heard Adelina came to visit and you didn’t even sit down for a proper meal with her. What’s going on?”

“Work’s busy,” Lance replied, his answer short and to the point.
