The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 440

The waiter hovered nearby, ready to take their order, but Lorinda just kept going on about the Lee family. She looked so caught up in it, you’d think she hadn’t even noticed the menu in front of her. There was no way she’d eat until she figured things out.

Catherine finally stood up and tugged Lorinda with her, flashing an apologetic smile at the waiter. “Sorry, we have to leave. Something came up.”

Lorinda didn’t resist. As soon as they got in the car, she started calling around, trying to dig up any information she could on the Lee family.

Not far away, Amanda watched from a quiet corner. She turned to the woman next to her, who looked to be in her forties, and asked, “Latonia, don’t they seem familiar to you?”

Latonia frowned, clearly annoyed. “What are you talking about? Why drag me here just to see those two women?”

Amanda didn’t hesitate. “The child you gave birth to all those years ago didn’t die.”

Latonia’s face went pale. “What are you saying? That’s impossible.”

“If you don’t believe me, look into it yourself,” Amanda said, her tone mysterious. “But I raised both of them. If you want answers, you’ll need my permission.”

Latonia’s brows knit together, but after a moment, she seemed to collect herself. “I know why you were kicked out of the Lee family. It was because of your gambling. And now you’re making up stories to get money from me? Get out of here before I call the police.”

With that, she turned and walked away.

Back in her car, Latonia couldn’t resist glancing back at Catherine and Lorinda as they drove off. She didn’t believe Amanda, but for some reason, one of those two women felt strangely familiar…

“Follow those women,” she told her driver.

“Yes, ma’am.”

Amanda rushed over, knocking on the car window. “Latonia, I’m telling the truth. Please, just listen to me…”

Latonia’s car rolled away, leaving Amanda standing alone on the sidewalk. She stared after the car for a moment, then turned and walked off.

Upstairs in the restaurant, Lance stood by the window, watching everything unfold below. He was too far away to hear what any of them were saying, but he recognized Amanda. She ran the orphanage.
