The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 541

Catherine’s heart skipped a beat. She stared at him, her eyes clear and deep as glass, lips pressed together in silence.

This wasn’t a threat—he was trying to lure her into seeking his protection.

Lance got up and walked over, his long fingers gripping her chin, tipping her face up so she was forced to meet his piercing gaze.

"I have a score to settle with you," he said softly, "but that can wait. For now, we need to deal with the Lee family."

His grip on her jaw was tight enough to bruise, stinging tears pricking at the corners of her vision.

“What do you mean?” Her voice trembled at the end.

Lance’s thumb traced along her jaw, his palm gradually cupping half her face as his fingers slipped behind her ear. It was an intimate gesture on the surface, but Catherine felt only the cool, snake-like chill of being cornered by a predator. A cold dread washed over her, settling deep in her chest.

"Remarry me," Lance said, his words as quiet and deadly as a whispered command.

Catherine’s eyes widened in shock. "What?"

"Exactly what it sounds like," he replied, dropping his hand. "You have two options: put together a remarriage agreement in the next half hour, or I’ll go bring the Lees back right now."

"You—!" Her palm snapped his hand away, her cheeks burning with anger and humiliation. "You’re taking advantage of me!"

A mocking smirk curled Lance’s lips. "Call it an act of kindness."

If she remarried Lance, he’d become her and Lanny’s shield. What happened today would never happen again.

“You’re not marrying Adelina anymore?” Catherine wasn’t naïve. Marrying Lance again could keep the Lees at bay, but there was still Adelina and Belinda to consider. Belinda was about to bring Adelina to Eldervale. Although the wedding had been canceled, the fact she was bringing her daughter to see Lance said everything Catherine needed to know.
