The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 98

Gavin picked up on Catherine’s mood right away and let out a soft hiss. “Alright, I promise. My lips are sealed. I’ll just sit back and enjoy the drama.”

In his head, though, he was already shaking his head. There’s no way this isn’t going to blow up. No way. Still, he hoped the secret would at least last until after the baby arrived.

The only heir to the James family, the one running SilverLeaf Industries, has a secret child? That kind of news would be explosive. And honestly, it would be one of the rare times Gavin could finally get the upper hand over Lance.

Catherine gave him a look. “I hope you mean it. If you break your word, you’ll never be able to face Lance again.” She sounded so serious, he almost winced.

Gavin’s mind was racing. Catherine had told him everything she was willing to say. The rest, well, that was out of her hands. She turned and went outside, needing some air.

The moment she left, Gavin slid into the hot spring and made a beeline for Lance.

“Gavin, where’d you disappear to?” Harrison asked, raising an eyebrow.

Gavin waded in, glancing at Lance out of the corner of his eye. “Had a little incident. Got mixed up in something huge. Life and death kind of stuff.”

Harrison looked back toward the direction Gavin had come from. “What happened?”

“I…” Gavin hesitated. Lance was sitting there, looking so calm and untouchable, like nothing could get to him. Gavin almost blurted out everything, just to see that look crack.

But at the last second, he bit his tongue. “Never mind, Harrison. Just messing with you.”

Harrison shot him a puzzled look, then glanced at Lance, who didn’t seem interested at all.

Lance grabbed his phone from the side of the pool and called Catherine. “Bring us some coffee.”

Harrison jumped in, “We can just call for room service.”

Lance didn’t even look at him. “I want her to bring it.”
