Chapter 454

3rd Person’s POV

“W-What?”

Seraphina’s voice cracked sharply through the hut, disbelief draining the color from her face.

But Tessalonika did not spare her another glance.

Instead, the elder healer turned slowly toward the remaining volunteers standing stiffly around. Her eyes swept across them one by one, calm and cold enough to make several wolves instinctively lower their gazes.

“And the rest of you?” she asked. “Within an entire team, only two healers bothered to truly observe the patient before reaching conclusions? What exactly were the five of you doing?”

No one answered.

“You will each submit a complete reflection report by tomorrow evening,” Tessalonika continued. “I want your observations regarding Abba’s condition, your reasoning process, and an explanation for every decision made today.”

The volunteers’ expressions fell instantly.

Still, they bowed their heads in reluctant obedience.

“Yes, Lady Tessalonika.”

Only after the matter was settled did Tessalonika return her attention to Abba.

The elder healer lowered herself beside Lylah near the firepit, the flames casting restless gold across both women’s faces.

For a moment, she simply watched the younger healer quietly.

Then she asked,

“If you had encountered a case like this alone, what would you have done?”

Lylah fell silent briefly.

The

The faint scent of burning cedar drifted through the hut while Selestine stirred softly beneath her skin.

“At first, I wouldn’t force any treatment,” Lylah answered honestly. “Not until I understood what was truly damaging her spirit.”

Her gaze shifted toward Abba.

“But I would search for her family.”

Tessalonika listened without interruption.

“That was my intention as well,” Lylah continued gently. “Once we returned to Lunaris, I planned to find

them and ask them to come here.”

Abba’s tired eyes trembled slightly.

Lylah looked toward the old she-wolf again, her expression softening. “She doesn’t need surgery, she needs connection.”

The words settled heavily inside the hut.

“A wolf cannot survive alone forever. Not without consequences.” Lylah’s voice remained calm, but conviction pulsed steadily beneath every syllable. “Her spirit has been isolated for too long. The bond between her wolf and the world weakened little by little until it nearly disappeared.”

Selestine stirred faintly again.

“If the people tied to her by blood return…” Lylah continued softly, “If they remind her that she still belongs somewhere… then her wolf may regain the strength to awaken again.”

Silence followed.

Even the crackling fire seemed quieter now.

At last, Tessalonika gave a slow hum of approval.

“Hmm.” The elder healer rose smoothly to her feet, dark robes rustling against the wooden floor. “Leave the search to Lunar Grace. We’ll handle locating Abba’s family ourselves.”

Then her sharp gaze shifted toward Lylah once more.

“For now, focus on this outreach project.”

Lylah nodded obediently. “Yes, Lady Tessa.”

“One of the villagers, Stoff, mentioned that Sir Knight intends to sponsor treatment support for several residents.” Tessalonika folded her arms loosely. “We’re planning to relocate those willing to travel to the nearest treatment facilities outside the Valley. Can you follow up on that matter with him?”

“I will,” Lylah replied.

By the time they returned to the volunteer huts, dusk had already swallowed Lunera Valley whole.

Cold mist drifted through the narrow paths between the cabins, while distant winds echoed through the heart of the mountains.

Lylah stepped inside her room and quietly freshened herself using the freezing spring water carried down from the cliffs earlier that morning.

The icy touch against her skin sent a faint shiver through her body.

After changing into warmer clothes, she grabbed for her coat and then headed toward Jude’s cabin.

When she finally reached his door,

Her phone rang.
