The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 778

“Fine, let’s go,” Lilly said, already heading for the door.

Jessa got up and followed her out.

Inside the villa, Ella opened the front door and found David standing outside. He looked as tall and handsome as ever.

Why was he here?

Wasn’t he supposed to be having dinner with Jessa tonight?

He hadn’t shown up at City Hall two days ago when they were supposed to get their marriage certificate, and since then, he hadn’t called, hadn’t texted, hadn’t even tried to explain himself. No matter how much Ella trusted him, she couldn’t help feeling hurt and a little angry. Right now, the last person she wanted was to see David.

She started to close the door on him, but David caught it with his hand, stopping her.

“Ella, wait,” he said quietly, looking right at her.

She met his eyes, her own gaze calm and clear. “Mr. Harmon, what do you want?”

A tiny smile tugged at David’s lips. “Mr. Harmon? That’s pretty formal. Aren’t we supposed to be getting married?”

He really had the nerve to bring that up.

Ella’s voice was steady. “We were supposed to, but you didn’t show up. Isn’t that right, Mr. Harmon?”

“Ella, just let me explain.”

“Okay, I’ll give you a chance,” she said. “Go ahead. I’m listening.”

“Can I at least come in first? Please, let me in and I’ll explain everything.”

His silence only made Ella more upset. “If you have nothing to say, then just leave.”

She turned away, starting to gather her things.

That’s when David noticed something on the table. He picked it up and looked at it. “What’s this?”

He realized they were two plane tickets. “Ella, you’re leaving?”

She nodded, her voice firm. “Yes. I’m taking Lola and we’re leaving.”

If he didn’t want to marry her, there was no reason for her to stay. Letting him in had been her way of giving them one last chance. He hadn’t said anything that mattered, so she was done waiting. She’d leave the capital with Lola.

David’s voice was tense. “Ella, you can’t just take Lola and leave. I won’t let you.”

Ella let out a cold little laugh. “Mr. Harmon, please. Tell me, why can’t I leave with Lola? You should go now. I heard you’re having dinner with Jessa. Don’t keep her waiting.”
