Jessa spun around and froze when she saw Moss, Joanna, David, Ella, and Lilly standing by the door. Her eyes went wide, all the air leaving her lungs.
“How are you all here?” Her voice barely made it out.
David stepped forward, a cold smile playing on his lips. “We followed you. Simple as that.”
Just then, the maid rushed in, keeping her head down and voice shaky. “I’m sorry. Mr. Wade and Mr. Harmon arrived, and I couldn’t stop them.”
The truth was, Jessa and Louise depended on Moss for everything. This place belonged to the Wade family. All the staff answered to him. Moss was the real authority here.
Jessa’s anger bubbled over. She glared at David. “What are you talking about, David? You followed me?”
Louise just shook her head. She couldn’t believe how clueless Jessa still was. At this point, it was obvious David had set them up from the start, waiting for the perfect moment to catch them in the act.
Ella stepped forward, a hint of a smirk on her lips. “Jessa, you really don’t get it yet, do you?”
Jessa hesitated. Then it hit her, and she sucked in a sharp breath. “David… the Heart Connect is still in you.”
David nodded. “That’s right.”
“You’re still in pain whenever you’re with Ella.”
“Yeah.”
Jessa took a shaky step back and turned to Joanna, pleading silently.
Joanna’s stare was icy. “Jessa, you knew this whole time that Louise was the one who cursed me back then?”
Jessa shook her head fast, panic rising. “I didn’t know. I swear.”
Ella snapped, “Liar! Jessa, we all heard you earlier. You knew Louise hexed Ms. Johnson. She’s your own mother, and you still sided with the person who hurt her. How could you?”
Lilly’s voice rang out again. “She’s right, Jessa. We heard every word. Don’t bother lying anymore.”
Now every pair of eyes in the room was fixed on her, cold and unforgiving. There was nowhere left to run. Jessa felt her heart drop, sinking into a darkness she couldn’t escape.
