The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 873

Lucas picked up his steak and started slicing it into bite-sized pieces with careful precision. “Let’s talk after we eat,” he said.

Lilly let out a cold laugh. “Lucas, what do you really want? With your status, you could have any woman you like. Why are you so obsessed with bothering me? Don’t tell me you’re actually in love with me.”

Lucas paused, knife and fork in hand, then looked right at her. “And what if I told you I am in love with you?”

She rolled her eyes. “Lucas, do you even know what love is? For you, love just means cheating and betrayal.”

He frowned. “Lilly, whatever happened with Sarah is over. Can’t you let that go?”

“Once a cheater, always a cheater. You don’t love me, Lucas. You just can’t stand seeing me with Jason. It throws you off balance. Honestly, men like you can’t handle a woman challenging your ego. Now that I don’t want you, your crazy possessiveness and need to win are flaring up again. That’s not love at all.”

Lucas leaned forward, desperate. “No, Lilly, I really do love you.”

She shook her head. “Enough, Lucas. Even if you did love me, do you even understand what that means? Your idea of love is destroying what you can’t have. It’s terrifying, and I want nothing to do with it.”

His temper flared. “You know what, Lilly? You’re right, I could have any woman I want. So why do you keep pushing my buttons? You want to talk about cheating? Didn’t you sleep with Jason? ou gave yourself to him, didn’t you? You let him be your first.”

Lilly cut him off, her voice steady. “Jason and I love each other, Lucas. What happens between us has nothing to do with you. You and I never even really started before it was already over.”

He stared at her, voice tight. “Are you really trying to make me lose it?”

“I’m not trying to make you angry, but I don’t want to have dinner with you either. Just tell me what happened to Jason.”
