Ella’s voice was gentle. “Mr. Farill, if you’re comfortable, would you mind taking off your mask? I’d like to see your injuries up close.”

Lola piped up, sweet and sincere. “Godfather, the only ugly people are the ones with ugly hearts. I’m not scared at all.”
