The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 904

Lilly never thought he would actually stay the night.

Once he stepped out, the whole place fell quiet. She reached for a sour plum and slipped it into her mouth. The tangy taste filled her senses, chasing away that stubborn wave of nausea.

Her hand drifted to her flat stomach. In her mind she whispered, “Baby, Daddy bought this for us.”

She lay back down, but no matter how much time ticked by, sleep stayed out of reach. Where was he sleeping? Maybe he’d taken the guest room?

Lilly pulled off her covers, picked up her water glass, and headed out, pretending she just needed a drink. As she opened the door, she caught sight of Jason, not in the guest room but stretched out on the living room couch instead.

It was a big couch, but he was even bigger. At over six feet tall, his long legs hung right off the edge. There was only a thin blanket draped over him, and with how chilly it still was, that seemed nowhere near enough. Wasn’t he cold? He’d freeze if she left him like that.

Lilly went back to her room, grabbed an extra comforter from the closet, and tiptoed back out. She gently swapped out the thin blanket, carefully tucking the comforter around him.

He was fast asleep, face highlighted in the soft living room light. She found herself really looking at him for the first time since his scars had faded. He’d always been striking, but now the sharp, cool boy from three years ago looked even better. He was all grown up, a polished, powerful businessman, impossibly handsome.

Lilly stared, lost in a daze. Almost without thinking, she reached out, letting her fingers trace softly over his cheek.

Suddenly, his hand shot out, strong fingers closing around her wrist. He pulled, and before she knew it, she toppled right into his arms.
