The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 442

Chapter 442

Avery’s POV

Alpha Matthew didn’t calm down when they brought him inside. If anything, the four walls just gave his fury better acoustics.

Sebastian had directed everyone into the sitting room off the main hall: me, Gideon, Matthew, and eventually Fiona, who was brought up from the holding cells looking pale but surprisingly composed.

The moment Matthew saw his daughter in handcuffs, the shade of crimson coloring his face deepened.” Fiona,” he hissed, “how could you do this to us?”

Fiona pulled her shoulders back and said nothing.

“I want an explanation.” Matthew turned toward Gideon and Sebastian, ignoring me entirely. “Now.”

Gideon opened his mouth, but I cleared my throat. “Fiona drugged Gideon last night.”

Matthew didn’t look at me. “I want to hear it from someone more trustworthy,” he snarled.

I bristled, but Sebastian lightly put his hand on my shoulder, calming me.

“What Avery says is true,” Sebastian said.

Gideon nodded in agreement. “She conspired with Deirdre-or “Katya”, as you know her.”

“And so what?” Matthew narrowed his eyes at Gideon. “Fiona is a good match for you!”

“She’s eighteen,” Gideon said.

“Exactly. Young, healthy, and of perfect breeding age.”

I felt like I was going to be sick. Sebastian’s hand tightened on my shoulder, and Gideon’s face paled. Fiona showed no reaction whatsoever. I suspected she had heard her father say such things on many occasions, likely from a very young age.

“Matthew,” Gideon said in a low voice, “I think that might be the most vile thing I’ve ever heard you say.”

“Vile?” The Alpha scoffed. “Vile? What’s vile is letting this-this harlot walk into a perfectly good arrangement and ruin everything! How do we know she’s not lying, anyway? She could say anything just to get what she wants!”

“She’s not lying.” Fiona’s voice was firm, causing us all to look at her. “Because I already confessed to everything.”

Matthew’s eye twitched. “You what?”

Fiona merely nodded once, confirming it.

Matthew stared at her for a long moment. Then, under his breath, “You didn’t consult a lawyer first? You

just confessed, like a goddamn idiot?”

Fiona flinched slightly.

Matthew turned away from her, pressing his hand to his forehead.

Fiona turned to Gideon then. “I’m sorry for what I did,” she said softly.

Gideon was quiet for a moment. “I think I owe you an apology too, Fiona,” he said. “I never should have let the engagement go as far as it did. I used a bad situation to my advantage, and you deserved better than that.”
