The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 384

"Although Clive promised that the Sloan family would invest, looking at him, it's obvious the entire family will eventually fall into that woman's trap," Mr. Watson said grimly. "Rather than pinning our hopes on Clive, we need to make backup plans. Send the order down: notify the PR department to prepare crisis management protocols."

Mr. Watson knew Clive's ship was destined to sink. He needed to secure his own exit. Having sat in his position for years, he wasn't stupid; he saw the situation more clearly than anyone. rather than waiting to be purged by the Fulton Group's influence later, it was better to salvage what he could and bail out early.

As for Clive? He was on his own.

...

Elsewhere, despite telling Tamara not to worry, Clive was anxious. The thought of the shareholders panicking like cats on hot bricks over the Fulton withdrawal gnawed at him. If he didn't secure investment soon, those shareholders would turn on him. He decided to go home immediately to speak with his father, Hackett, and his brother, Josiah.

Driving his sports car at breakneck speed, Clive arrived at the Sloan family garage. He stormed into the house without even changing his shoes, bursting into the study where Hackett was reviewing documents.

"Dad, you have to help me!" Clive blurted out. "My company urgently needs funds. Can the family invest a sum to help me out?"

Hackett looked up, frowning. "Investment? I recall Glitz Entertainment recently partnered with the Fulton Group. Didn't they pledge a significant amount? Why would you be short on funds now?"

Seeing Hackett press for logic, Clive waved his hand impatiently. "Dad! Stop worrying about why! The company is pressuring me to bring in investment. Just transfer the money! Our family isn't lacking cash, so why are you asking so many questions?"

Hackett's face stiffened. He put down the file and looked at Clive gravely. "Clive, the family's finances are tight right now. Business isn't like it used to be. I may not have spare funds to give you for the time being."

Clive paused, then sneered, convinced Hackett was stalling him. "Dad, stop joking with me!"

He considered the fact that his family had never supported his entry into the entertainment industry. To him, this was clearly Hackett's strategy to force him to quit showbiz.
