Clive was silent for a few seconds before speaking, his voice heavy with exhaustion. "Forget it, Tamara. Don't put yourself in a difficult position." He sighed. "You're the only good one left... at least you were willing to help me."
Tamara spoke softly, "Clive, rest assured. Heaven never bars all paths. I will find a way for you."
After hanging up, she let out a cold laugh and tossed the phone onto the sofa. She looked up toward the second floor, her gaze venomous.
Since the Sherwood family was unreliable, she would have to find another route. Was she supposed to just watch Clive fall into ruin? No! He was her only remaining pillar of support in the Sloan family. She absolutely could not let him fall.
Gritting her teeth, she picked up her phone and scrolled through her contacts to the group of sycophantic followers who usually surrounded her. These girls all came from wealthy or influential backgrounds, and every single one of them was a frantic fan of Clive's singing career. Since the Sherwoods were out of the picture, she would use these girls for the time being.
Tamara took a deep breath and dialed the first number. "Hello, Carola? It's me, Tamara..."
On the other end, Carola’s voice immediately perked up. "Tamara? Why are you calling me all of a sudden?"
Tamara and Carola usually only interacted in person; calls were rare. Given that they had just seen each other at Clive’s concert earlier that day, Carola hadn't expected to hear from her again so soon.
Tamara kept her voice low and choked with emotion. "Carola... my brother Clive is in trouble."
Carola was terrified of seeing Tamara cry. Hearing the sobs, she immediately pressed for details. "What happened? Don't cry, tell me what's wrong. Maybe my family can help."
Tamara explained the situation with the Fulton family's withdrawal, adding plenty of embellished details about Leilani and Judy's involvement. "It's all because of Leilani that the Fultons pulled their capital from Clive’s company. The chain of funds has broken, and he desperately needs investment... I had no other choice but to come to you."
