The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 619

Chapter 619 Yellowstone

Judy’s POV

I didn’t like the idea of Megan Churchill sitting in the hospital for 23 years… kept alive by only machines. Gavin decided that bringing Eliza along would benefit us; she could tell us exactly what was wrong with Meg and how we could fix her.

Then maybe we can bring Meg home and introduce her to her daughter. I caught Gavin up a little bit on our way to the packhouse; it was later in the evening, so we knew that Eliza and Taylor would be at the packhouse around now.

I told him a bit about the curse and why we needed to get to Mcg. Gavin pulled up to the packhouse and parked the car. After a beat of silence, he got out of the car and ran around to the passenger door to open it for me, offering me his hand.

My cheeks heated as I took his hand, allowing him to pull me to my feet. I stood close to him; my eyes wide from his sudden close proximity, and my checks growing even hotter.

“I have a few more for the protest,” I heard a familiar voice say from around the corner of the nearby shrubbery. The shrubs almost hid us so that we couldn’t be seen, but the voices carried as if they were right next to me… speaking to me. “They also don’t want her as our Luna.”

“Good,” the other familiar voice said. “She won’t make a good Luna. Alpha Gavin has to see that. He should pick someone more in his league and someone we can trust.”

“Save your speech for the rally,” the other voice chuckled. “We need to get back to work so we can go home.”

The voices faded as they walked away, and I was left frozen in place. Gavin’s eyes were trained on my face the entire time, and I could tell without looking at them that they were dark and he was holding himself back.

“What the hell was that?” He asked, his voice low and dangerous.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and refused to look him in the eyes because of pure shame.

“That was the she-wolves of your pack not wanting me as the luna,” I murmured, my cheeks heating again, only this time for a different reason.

“How long had this been going on?” He asked. “You aren’t surprised by their words, so I’m assuming you’ve heard them before.”

I bit my lower lip, nibbling on it slowly.

“Yes,” I said, my voice dropping to a whisper. “I’ve heard them speaking like this before.”

“Oh, Hey Gavin… hey Judy,” Eliza said as she stepped out of the newly parked car. I blinked, not realizing another vehicle had just pulled up.

Beta Taylor got out of the driver’s side as Eliza stepped out of the passenger side. She looked tired, and from her white trench coat, I knew she was heading home from work.

But despite her tiredness, she still managed to smile at me.

“Hey, Eliza,” I said in return. “Beta Taylor.”

Taylor smiled at me as he draped an arm around his mates.

“Everything okay? You two look like you’re in a heated discussion,” he commented, staring between the two

of us.

“Actually, I need to steal your mate for a few hours,” Gavin said, his eyes finding Elizabeth’s. “We have situation in Yellowstone.”

Eliza raised her brows and then looked at Taylor.

“I suppose our night alone will have to be put on hold,” she told him, letting out a breath. “I do apologize, My Love.”

He sighed as well and kissed her check lovingly.

“I’ll get you to myself one of these days,” he assured her. “And then I won’t let you out of our bed.”

“You two are sickly cute.” I commented, a smile stretching across my lips and making them laugh.

“So, what’s going on?” Eliza asked.

“We’ll explain it on the way,” Gavin assured her. “But it’s important. I wouldn’t pull you away at this hour if it

weren’t.”

She nodded, understanding in her face.

“Okay, let me just pack a few things,” she said, pointing over her shoulder at the packhouse. “I’ll be back momentarily.”

“I’ll come with you,” Taylor said as he jogged alongside her.

Their voices faded as they disappeared into the packhouse, and then Gavin turned to look at me again, concern clear on his face, and my heart tugged in my chest.

“It’s okay,” I tell him before he has the chance to say anything. “Irene’s been helping me become more Luna-like. I’ll prove to them that I can be a good Luna.”

Gavin’s eyes widened.

“That’s the reason you’ve been taking lessons?” He asked.

My cheeks heated when I realized what I just confessed to.

“Yes,” I admitted. “I’m sorry for not telling you the truth sooner. I didn’t want to start issues in your pack, and you already have so much going on. This was one problem that I could deal with on my own. I’m going to kill them with kindness. I’ll prove to them that I can be a good Luna.”

Gavin cupped my face, forcing my eyes to meet his. Warmth spread across his fingers and seeped into my flesh, giving me a warm feeling all the way throughout my body, right down to the tip of my toes.

“You don’t have to prove to anyone that you’ll be a good Luna,” he murmured. “You are already fantastic,

and I’m so proud of you. I’ll talk to Olivia. You don’t need to worry about this kind of thing. Let ine handle it.”

“No,” I said quickly, “I can handle it… Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal, and I really want to be able to prove myself.”

He searched my face for a moment longer before he leaned down and pressed his lips to mine.

“I love you,” he murmured.

“I love you too.”

Not long after, Eliza and Taylor rejoined us outside, Eliza with a small bag. She smiled at me and then turned to her mate to say her goodbyes to him.

“We’ll be back before sunrise,” Gavin told them. “But it’s important.”

Eliza nodded with understanding in her eyes.

“I figured you wouldn’t pull me away if it weren’t important,” she told him.

Once we were all in the car and Gavin had pulled the car onto the road, we filled Eliza in on everything that had happened. I even told Gavin the entire story about my conversation with Levi, and though he doesn’t trust Levi, he doesn’t think he would lie about something like this, so we had no other choice but to believe him.

My heart was racing in my chest because I wasn’t sure what to expect. If I didn’t already know that the Blackwells were my actual birth family, I would think that I was about to meet my mom for the first time. This was a woman whom I fully believed was my mother for most of my life, even though I had never met her.

Gavin reached over and touched my hand. I flipped my hand over so he could intertwine his fingers through mine, and then he gave my hand a gentle squeeze. I felt warmth all over my body, and I couldn’t help but look up at him as he drove.

At some point, I must have fallen asleep because I woke to Gavin peppering small kisses along the nape of my neck. I opened my eyes, groggily, and looked around. It was still dark outside, and when I looked at the time, it read just after 11 pm. I crinkled my nose and stared around the parking lot we were sitting in.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“We stopped at the gas station,” he told me, motioning with his head towards the little store. “Eliza needed to use the restroom. We’ll be in Yellowstone in about 20 minutes.”

I nodded and leaned into him, loving his proximity.
