Chapter 626 A New Plan
Judy’s POV
Finished
The ride back to the villa was quiet. Nan and I sat in the backseat, and Erik drove. The others went home in their own vehicles, and I had no idea where Irene went. She didn’t go with us, and she won’t answer her phone. She disappeared almost immediately after Erik showed up.
Erik hadn’t said a word since we left the packhouse. His grip was turning white on the steering wheel. I knew he was hurting because of Irene’s brush-off, and I felt bad for him.
“I’m just going to call Chester really quick,” Nan said as she took out her cellphone.
“How are you doing?” I asked him
He glanced at me through the rear-view mirror.
“How do you think I’m doing?” He asked, “My mate wants nothing to do with me.”
“She doesn’t know she’s your mate. Once that curse Chuck put on her is broken, she will be yours.”
“If that curse ever gets broken.Seems like it’s getting worse.”
“What do you mean?”
He was quiet for a moment.
“I went to see her the other day. I thought maybe we could talk now that she’s had some time to process everything. But I think I just made things worse between us. She started to cry and told me to stay away from her. She said the only person she will ever love is her fated mate, Chuck. A couple of weeks ago, she said she hated him and never wanted to see him again… and now she says she still loves him and will only love him. I just don’t get it. I don’t think the curse is any closer to being broken than when he cast it.”
I blinked, confused. Irene rarely talks about Chuck. When we found out he was cheating a few weeks ago, she was devastated and wanted nothing to do with Chuck after that. I knew it would be difficult for her to go no contact with him entirely, but I didn’t think the distance would make her love him even more.
That’s not how this was supposed to work.
Then, I thought about what Esme said about knowing how to break the curse. The only problem was that we needed Chuck to return to the place he cast the spell… the mansion in the Silver Crescent Pack.
I was also going to need Cora’s help because there was no way I could do this on my own.
“I think I might be able to break the curse on Irene,” I told him without much more thought.
“What are you talking about?”
“Esme knows how I can break the siren’s curse, but I’m going to need Chuck to come to the Silver Crescent pack.”
“Hold on a second, Chester. What do you mean you’re going to need Chuck to come here? That’s the last

thing Irene needs.”
“It’s the only way to break the curse.”
“How do we know that?”
“Because Esme told me that.”
“And we trust Esme? The woman who couldn’t talk for years and now can’t seem to shut up?”
“Yes,” I said without hesitation.”I need to get Chuck and bring him here. It’s the only way.”
Nan sighed.

“And how do you expect to bring him here?” Nan asked. “He’s in Alpha Jeremy’s territory. We can’t exactly go there and retrieve him.”
“Or maybe we can.It would require another trip with a completely new plan.”
“Alpha Gavin would never let you near that pack without him,” Erik warned me.
“He’s right. You’re going through a very delicate pregnancy, and taking a trip like this could be dangerous for you and the baby,” Nan said.
“Do you hear yourselves? This is Irene we are talking about. If I can help her, why wouldn’t I take that chance?”
“Because going to another Lycan Chairman’s territory and starting anything with any of his packmates, especially one of his Gammas, is grounds for a war. It’s a dangerous plan, Judy, and I think we should regroup and think of another plan instead,” Nan said.
She then returned to her phone call with Chester, saying her goodbyes to him before hanging up the phone and putting it back in her purse.
Erik was quiet.
“The longer we wait, the worse it might get,” I told them both after a moment. “I don’t want to risk it.”
Erik pulled up to the villa doors and parked the car.
“That’s not something we want to risk, right?” I asked.
“No,” he said softly. “I don’t want to risk it. But I also don’t want to force Irene to be with me if that’s not something she wants.”
Without a word, he got out of the car, slamming it shut behind him.
I quickly got out of the car just as he reached for the handle.
Nan did the same.
“So, what do we do then?” Nan asked,” It seems we are at a crossroads.”

The door of the villa opened, and Adam stood in the entryway.
“Welcome back,” he said.

He shut the door behind us and went back to his post; I shook my head at his retreating form and turned back to Nan and Erik, who seemed to be lost in their own thoughts.
“I want to help Irene the best that I can. I might fail as a Luna, but I will not fail my friend, and every second we wait fails her a little more,” I told them, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. My emotions were getting the best of me, and I blamed this damn pregnancy. “I need you both to be on my side here and tell me that this is the right thing.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Matt asked as he came down the steps. “Is everything okay with Irene?”
“She’s fine,” Nan said.
“No.” I said.
Matt frowned.
“I knew it,” he said.
“You knew what?”
“I knew that something was wrong with her.I asked her if she was okay, but she brushed me off and said she was fine. But I heard her crying almost all night.”
I put my hand on Matt’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“You’ve always been very perceptive, Matt,” I complimented. “Irene is lucky to have you as her brother. You look out for her, and even though she can’t see it right now, she will one day, and she will thank you for it.”
He shrugged.
“She and my dad are the only family that I have,” he said softly. “Now that I have a wolf and know how to fight, I want to protect them.”
“Aw, Matt,” Nan said, placing her hand over her chest. “That’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.”
I ran my fingers through his shabby hair and then wrapped my arms around him to hug him.
“They are not the only family that you have,” I told him softly. “I’m your family… my family is your family, and my friends are your family.”
Matt looked up at me with a watery smile.
“Really?” He asked.
