Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 598

“I sent people after her last night?” Julian frowned as the realization hit. “Is that what she told you?”

“What, are you still going to deny it? Are you seriously claiming you didn’t send anyone after her? That wound on her back was from your men. If it had been any deeper, she might not have made it through the night.”

Julian let out a cold laugh. His face twisted with sarcasm. “We had nothing to do with it. I don’t know how she got hurt, and I have no idea what she’s told you.”

“Who else could it be?” Maxwell clearly trusted his own eyes more than anything Julian said.

“So she actually told you we sent people after her?”

“Yes.”

Julian’s smirk only grew. “If you insist on keeping a liar by your side, you’re in for a rough time.”

Maxwell’s frown deepened.

Julian didn’t wait for a reply. He turned to leave.

Helene was still huddled in the corner, trying to make herself invisible. Julian’s gaze flicked over, landing on her. She flinched, terrified he would lock her up again. She crawled over quickly, desperation in her voice. “Julian, please, don’t lock me in again. I swear I didn’t mess anything up this time. I just wanted to tell you what happened. I’ve already said everything I needed to tonight. Please, let me go. Please…”

Julian barely looked at her. His voice was flat. “Alright.”

Relief flooded her features and she scrambled up, darting out of the room.

Maxwell was still replaying Julian’s words in his mind when Miles passed by, unable to hold his tongue. “Maxwell, I’ve got to say, if we really had sent people after her last night, she never would have made it till morning. And honestly, do you think one woman could escape the Grayson family’s men with just a cut? Does that even sound possible? You should think about it.”
