Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 707

“Let’s go inside, Mommy.”

“Okay.” Madeline gathered her skirt and started towards the entrance.

From the next car, Jane and Alianna stepped out together.

Alianna tipped her chin up, every inch the princess. When she glanced around, she caught sight of Madeline heading in.

“Mom, Madeline’s here too!” Alianna’s voice wavered as she gripped Jane’s arm.

Julian was supposed to be here tonight too, and just the thought made her stomach twist.

Jane shot her a look, totally unbothered. “Alianna, like I’ve told you, you didn’t do anything wrong. There’s nothing to panic about when you see her. She lives in the Capital now. You’ll probably run into each other more often anyway.”

“That’s not it, Mom. I’m scared Julian will see her.”

Jane smoothed out her skirt and replied, “That’ll happen sooner or later. They’ll meet eventually. But Julian hasn’t thought about her for a whole year. To him, she’s just another face in the crowd. What are you so worried about? Come on.”

Alianna listened, took a deep breath, and nodded. “I get it, Mom.”

Jane had already checked out Madeline’s outfit. Turning to look at her own daughter, she couldn’t hide her smug smile.

Madeline’s look tonight was understated, almost blending into the background. Compared to Alianna’s flashiness, she seemed quiet, though far more elegant.

Jane’s pride swelled as she fixed Alianna’s skirt. “Chin up, Alianna. Don’t forget, you’re Julian’s date tonight. You’re supposed to shine. Don’t let nerves ruin it for you. No one’s going to outshine you unless you let them.”

Alianna nodded again. She’d spent hours getting ready; she knew she looked gorgeous. Her confidence started to come back.

“Let’s go, Mom.”

The two of them linked arms and walked in together.

Inside the ballroom, Madeline held Noah and Oliver by the hands.

She wore a deep navy velvet dress. Her long hair fell softly over her shoulders, simple pearl earrings gleaming on her ears. Her makeup was minimal, letting her delicate features stand out.

Even without trying, the gentle curve of her lips could turn every head in the room.

She was quietly elegant, understated but graceful.

“I almost thought you wouldn’t show up,” James teased, striding over in a crisp suit, a ready smile on his face.

Madeline smiled. “I promised, didn’t I? Of course I’d be here. Has Brenda arrived yet?”

“Haven’t seen her. She’s probably still on her way.”

Madeline nodded and turned to the boys. “Noah, Oliver, say hello to James.”

“Hello, James,” they chimed together.

James reached out, tapping their cheeks with his finger. “You both shot up this year, huh?”

“And you got even more handsome, James!” Oliver piped, ever the charmer.
