Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 718

He didn’t have any feelings for Alianna. Nothing close to love. Honestly, she meant nothing to him.

Alianna was there because Christian wanted her at the company, always nearby. Having her around was easier than listening to Christian nag him about it twenty-four-seven. She was just someone in the background, like hiring another cleaning lady. If that was all it took to keep Christian off his back, why not?

“Then why’d you bring her home? Why’d you let her shower in my room and change into my clothes? She even wore my pajamas, Julian. I loved those. And that necklace—my mom gave it to me.

“She’s used my things and worn them, and now I don’t want them anymore. And let me tell you something. I get that you lost your memory, and you forgot about me. I’m not mad about that. But if you fall for another woman, I’ll walk away. I’ll take your kids and your money and leave for good. You two can live happily ever after, and I’ll disappear.”

Madeline dumped every word in one heated burst, shoved Julian away, and spun around to leave the room.

Her favorite clothes, her favorite necklace—ruined, just because someone else had touched them. If he started liking someone else, she didn’t need him either.

She barely made it a step before Julian grabbed her wrist. Without thinking, he pulled her right back into his arms.

He just stood there, letting her say whatever she needed. He didn’t try to stop her, just watched in silence. But as soon as she tried to leave, something in him wanted to reach for her, to hold her close.

His own patience with her surprised him. He’d never had this much tolerance for anyone.

“Are you done?”

She caught a whiff of perfume—Alianna’s, not hers. That just made everything worse. Madeline struggled, landing a few weak hits on his chest.

“You smell. Let me go.”

She yanked herself free, grabbed a pile of clothes, and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
