Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 731

Ray listened to Madeline, tension building beneath his calm surface. Zack stood quietly behind, his head bowed.

That attitude, that sharp tongue… she was Shelly’s daughter through and through.

“It’s all our fault, really. Please don’t fight because of us,” Jane sniffled, looking apologetically at Ray.

“Ray, sweetheart, Madeline’s Shelly’s daughter, the Ballard family’s heiress. Of course she’s a little spoiled. It doesn’t matter if Alianna is wronged a bit. Please, let’s not argue.”

Alianna quickly agreed. “Yeah, Dad, I’m fine. The doctor said I only got a few scratches when Madeline pushed me. It hurts, but I’ll heal soon.”

She bit her lip, the message loud and clear: Madeline had pushed her down the stairs, and no one had forgotten.

Alianna got up and walked over to Madeline, reaching out to gently take her hand with a pitiful look.

“Madeline, about the necklace… I honestly didn’t know you cared so much. I just wanted to try it on. If it upset you, I’ll replace it, I swear.”

As she spoke, Alianna crossed to the table and picked up a delicate gift box. She offered it to Madeline, her eyes watery.

“Dad gave me this. I haven’t even worn it yet. I want you to have it as an apology. Madeline, I swear, I never meant to upset you. Can we not fight anymore?”

Apologizing nonstop, Alianna pulled the necklace from the box, lifting it for Madeline to see. “Look, Madeline, isn’t it beautiful?”

Madeline glanced down at it. “If I don’t accept, you’ll both cry again… and I’ll end up looking like the heartless villain. Isn’t that how this goes?”

Alianna didn’t miss a beat, voice soft and coaxing. “It’s a really lovely necklace, Madeline. Just try it on. You’ll love it. Here, let me help—”

She put down the box, acting like she hadn’t heard a word, and reached out to put the necklace on Madeline.

Madeline’s eyes turned icy. She lifted her hand and gently pushed the necklace away.

“Ah!”

She barely touched Alianna, but Alianna let out a loud cry. The necklace slipped from her hands and clattered to the floor. Pearls scattered everywhere, the string snapping on impact.

“Madeline, you…”

Alianna stared at the pearls blankly, eyes filling with tears. She dropped to the floor, scooping up pearls like they were priceless treasures.

Jane hurried over, voice tight with accusation. “Madeline, Alianna gave you her most treasured necklace. Even if you didn’t want it, you didn’t have to ruin it. That was too much.”

Jane bent down to comfort Alianna, who was still kneeling and gathering pearls. “Alianna, stop, don’t bother…”

“No, Dad gave me this. Madeline doesn’t want it but I do.” Alianna’s voice trembled, stubborn and small, just on the verge of breaking.

She kept trying to gather the scattered pearls, finally huddling on the floor. Tears rolled silently down her cheeks, her whole body shaking.

Ray’s expression hardened.
