Nicholas had always been the one with the most authority among the Watson brothers, mostly because he kept himself above the drama. He never bothered with all the family power struggles and made it clear he wasn’t interested in playing those games.
“I told you, Nelly was never going to change anything. There was no reason for you to rush into all this. Look at the mess now. I can’t help you,” Nicholas said, his voice tight with frustration.
He wasn’t mad at Britney for dragging him into the situation. What really got to him was how reckless and thoughtless she’d been. She acted on impulse, never thinking about the fallout.
It was true, Britney wanted a piece of Christopher’s inheritance, but what really worried them was the idea of Nelly teaming up with Felix. If that happened, everything the Watson family had built could end up in the hands of outsiders. On that, at least, they and Michael agreed.
But right now, Nelly had Felix backing her up. Outwardly, she looked like she was working for the family. Britney’s move had just handed her a perfect excuse to grab even more power. Nelly had played the victim so well that Michael ended up giving her control of the family’s women’s fashion brand.
Everything Nicholas had planned was now ruined, all because of Britney.
“It’s all or nothing. Wouldn’t it have been better to end the fighting early if we had the chance? Christopher already tore our family apart once. We were too soft, and that’s why Felix and Christopher got to walk all over us. Nelly’s just a girl. We can’t keep making the same mistakes, hesitating when it matters. I did this for the family, for us,” Britney shot back, her tone sharp and stubborn.
“If that’s how you feel, then you can figure out how to fix it. I’m done for tonight,” Nicholas replied, already turning away.
