The production team brought the four moms to Latham’s villa for a prenatal nutrition class, complete with a professional instructor. Dorothea lived closest, but she still ended up being the last one to arrive.
When she walked in, the other three were already seated. Dorothea gave them a small smile, a quiet hello. Two of the women smiled back, warm and friendly.
Among the four, one mom was a surgeon, so she was kind of the expert in the room. Another was a lawyer. The third, Georgia, had a husband who was a top chef in the restaurant world.
Georgia had honestly thought she’d be the star of this episode. She hadn’t expected Dorothea to steal the spotlight, and she wasn’t thrilled about it. When Dorothea smiled her way, Georgia just gave a little snort, not bothering to hide her annoyance.
Dorothea picked up on the vibe right away. She wasn’t about to force a conversation that wasn’t wanted, so she just shrugged and let it go.
While the instructor fiddled with the projector, the four of them chatted about random things. The surgeon mom looked at Dorothea and said, “You look even younger in person than you do online. I can’t believe you got pregnant so quickly. It took me a whole year.”
Dorothea smiled politely. “You’re really young too, honestly.”
In reality, she didn’t watch the others’ livestreams much. Carmen had given her a crash course on the other three that morning, just so she wouldn’t be completely clueless. Sharing this class was basically a mini social event. Showing up without knowing anything about anyone would have just made things awkward.
The lawyer mom joined in. “You really do look so young. And your husband is always spoiling you. Mine’s the total opposite, just so closed off. Now you two are my go-to example whenever I want to lecture him.”
Dorothea laughed, a little embarrassed. “He just likes to put on a show. Honestly, he’s not like that when it’s just us.”
She wasn’t exactly telling the whole truth.
Georgia rolled her eyes, not even trying to hide it. She hated couples who were always showing off like that.
