When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 353

Filming the reality show didn’t feel much different from their normal downtime. The only real change was that the house seemed fuller than usual, with cameras and people always around. Dorothea woke up super early today, had her breakfast done by eight-thirty, and by the time Latham was still sweating it out in the gym, she was already out in the garden, taking a slow walk to help her food settle.

That parenting class they’d gone to had made an impression on her. Every day, she paid attention to her portion sizes, sticking to small, frequent meals because everyone kept saying that was best. About half an hour later, when she felt comfortable, she went back inside to flop down in bed. Latham came out of the bathroom right on cue.

“Babe, you finished eating?” he called out.

Dorothea pressed her palm to her belly. “Yeah, I’m done.”

She glanced over at him, a teasing lilt in her voice. “Isn’t it kind of late for work, though?”

He was the type who always made it to the office before nine but lately had been dragging it out, sometimes barely making it before ten.

Latham laughed under his breath. “I’m heading out soon. But wait, I got something new. Since we have a minute, come on, let’s try it.”

The livestream chat was already buzzing. Latham’s grin made everyone suspicious, and comments started flying.

What is it? Is he about to pull out something R-rated?

Haha, Latham really treats us all like close friends!

Just as the comments were getting bolder, Latham lifted his hand and everyone caught sight of the stethoscope gleaming in the light.

Dorothea raised an eyebrow. “Why’d you buy that?”

“I saw online that you can hear the baby moving best with one of these,” he said, looking totally serious.

Dorothea just stared at him. “I told you already, you can’t hear anything until four months at the earliest.”

She rolled her eyes for good measure, but Latham kept going, ignoring her. He knelt right next to the bed, his shirt collar open just enough to show off his sharp features and that subtle movement of his Adam’s apple. For a split second, he looked almost too good.
