I simply couldn't stand Stella anymore. As for her wild imaginations, I chose to ignore them.
Mom texted me, asking if I had arrived at Stella's house, so I texted her back. “Yes.”
Then Stella and I sat on the couch, watching TV and chatting. Somehow we got onto the topic of Bonnie. I told her everything about Bonnie's bank transfer screenshot last night and how Neil drove her home today.
Stella was fuming. "Is Neil trying to play both sides? Rena, you don't need a lowlife like him!"
"I'm already planning to dump him." I calmly said while munching on a piece of cake.
"Are you seriously considering moving abroad?" Stella hugged me. "I really can't bear to see you leave."
"I'm not leaving forever. I'll come back and visit whenever I can!" I kissed her on her smooth forehead.
Stella accepted that immediately. Money meant freedom. If she missed me, she could always come and visit, and take a trip abroad while she was at it.
We were talking when Simmons's voice came from the dining room, "Stella, dinner's ready!"
Stella responded and then helped me to the dining room.
I had to say, Simmons was a superb cook. Every dish was delicious.
What delighted me the most was that I actually loved everything he made.
He attentively served the food and even ladled soup for us.
We had a lively dinner. As long as Stella stopped pushing me to date Simmons, we could have a great time.
But she disappointed me again. During dinner, she didn't say anything inappropriate, but she sneakily took a photo. The photo showed Simmons serving food on my plate while I was thanking him.
If it weren't for the photo she posted on Facebook after dinner, I wouldn't have known that she was up to something again.
"Stella!!" I exclaimed.
"What?" Stella looked at me innocently.
I pointed my phone screen at her. In her post, Simmons and I looked rather intimate.
The caption was even more outrageous. “Someone's fallen in love!”
Stella shrank back a bit, "Isn't Simmons in love? Look at how smitten he is..."
I really wanted to tell Simmons, who was washing fruits, that he had a lovely sister.
"Can you be normal for once? I'm married, and your brother is single. Can you stop causing trouble for him?" I pinched Stella.
Stella shrieked, "I'm helping him find happiness!"
"What if your parents find out? What would they think?" I reminded her.
"They just want him to find a girlfriend soon." Stella insisted.
While I was reprimanding Stella, my phone rang. It was a call from Russel.
I was a bit puzzled but still answered it anyway.
"Happy New Year." Russel was as polite as always.
"Happy New Year. Dr. Russel, aren't you on duty at the hospital?" I asked.
He was silent for two seconds, "No. Aren't you at home?"
"Do you mean Sterling Estates?"
"Yes."
I wasn't there, and I had decided to avoid that place as much as possible.
