Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 125

Alicia and Barbara couldn't bear it anymore.

Alicia: [Rena, you made the right decision to divorce. Neil was way out of line. You didn't even know about Karina. You just agreed to marry him, why the hell did he do that to you?]

Barbara: [Yeah, as a person, he can't be so selfish. You're also the victim here.]

Stella: [And what about that Kate? Was she crazy? The nonsense she's spewing, if I were there, I'd give her a piece of my mind!]

Seeing all these messages pouring out, I felt a lump in my throat. Neil never mentioned Karina to me. He just hoped I'd turn down his grandfather's proposal.

Later, his grandfather's health worsened. There was no more delaying. Since I didn't refuse, the wedding was set in stone.

If I were to blame for anything, it was that I agreed to marry Neil knowing full well he didn't fancy me.

That night, the group chat was buzzing. Stella and the others were fuming on my behalf, threatening to get back at Neil. I stopped them.

The more you seek revenge, the more you get tangled up with them. Better to let it slide.

What I'm most worried about now was how long Neil planned to stick around in Caladonia?

I hoped he could finish his work and come back home soon. Otherwise, my baby bump will start to show and it would be easy for anyone to spot.

"Let's meet after work and have a chat." The next day at work, I received a message from Kate.

"I don't have time." I replied and then ignored her.

To my surprise, Kate blocked my car at the company's entrance after work.

I had no choice but to stop, get out of my car.

"I don't mean anything by this. I just hope you won't target Bonnie anymore. She's a host in the marketing department and you're in expansion. You guys barely cross paths, there's no need for all this rivalry." Kate seemed very self-righteous.

I asked, "On what authority are you defending her?"

Kate replied, "I treat her like my own sister. That's why."

I found it amusing, "So, you think Neil's true love is still your sister, and you're okay with Bonnie, the stand-in, being by Neil's side, right?"

Should I praise Kate and her sister for their deep bond, or was Bonnie just that irresistible?

Just as Kate was about to answer me, Bonnie also came out of the company. Her eyes were red, her little face devoid of any color, she looked pitiful.

She saw me, hatred flashed in her eyes, then she looked aggrieved again, "Irene, I've resigned. I won't be an eyesore here anymore."

"Bonnie, why are you resigning? You can't! It's not your fault!" Kate disagreed.

"Now everyone thinks that I'm the one who ruined Irene's marriage. How can I keep working here with any dignity left? Kate, thanks for looking after me all this time. I'll treat you to a meal if I get the chance." Bonnie wiped the corner of her eyes, her forced smile looked rather tragic.

Kate looked at me, hinting for me to speak.

I chuckled, "You can't stand the rumors and gossip anymore, so you decided to resign, right?"

"Irene, I..." Tears welled up in Bonnie's eyes.

"Enough, Bonnie. You know what you've done. I don't want to talk to you anymore. I wish you and Neil a lifetime of love and may you never part!" I'm starving now, all I want is to go home and eat.

As soon as I finished speaking, I saw Bonnie's face change. She was looking behind me.

I turned around to see Neil standing behind me with a serious look. He must have heard what I just said.
