Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 155

I turned around to see Neil standing there with a grim face, having clearly heard me call him a "jerk."

I waved to Cathie coolly, "You should head off, drive safe tonight."

Cathie nodded, shot Neil a glare, and zoomed off with a press of the gas pedal.

She's so free and easy, so cool.

If I had been half as free-spirited as her, I wouldn't have ended up with Neil, and none of this would have happened.

"So I'm a jerk in your eyes?" Neil's voice was icy cold.

"What I think of you doesn't matter, as long as you're the best man in Bonnie's eyes, that's enough, isn't it?" I retorted, "Neil, get a grip, Bonnie is important to you, and not just because of Karina. Stop coming to me with all this weird stuff."

Ready to leave, I turned around only to have Neil grab my wrist and force me into his car. I tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge.

"What the hell are you doing?" I demanded, my wrist aching from his grip.

"What's this about?" Neil pulled out a handful of photos, his tone icy.

I took the photos and was taken aback. They were of me and Oscar, who I had run into at a Day of the Dead ceremony.

We had shared a meal and he had hugged me before we parted. Somehow, that had been caught on camera.

From the angle of the photo, we looked like a couple.

"Where did you get these?" I asked.

"Why were you hugging him? I thought you were just friends?" Neil was angry, as if I had cheated on him.

"If you managed to get these photos, you must also know when they were taken. We were divorced by then. What happened between Oscar and me is none of your business."

After calmly responding, I attempted to open the door again. "Unlock the door, I want out!"

Neil was clearly pissed. He unlocked the door, but just as I was about to climb out, he leaned over and shut it.

Seeing this, I got angry and bit him again!

Through the thin fabric of his shirt, my teeth dug hard into Neil's skin. I heard him gasp. I thought it hurt.

He had been scratched, bitten, even hit by me several times before, but he never learned his lesson and kept provoking me.

I let go of Neil. My teeth had drawn blood from his forearm, staining his shirt sleeve.

"Irene!!" Neil glared at his sleeve, swearing, "How many times have you bitten me? Are you a child?!"

I wiped my mouth with a napkin, "Open the door, or I'm calling your parents."

Neil's face was pale. He finally unlocked the door.

He knew if I complained to his parents, he'd be scolded, and it might even affect Bonnie.

Once back in my car, I immediately contacted Halley to find out who had taken the photos of Oscar and me.

They were definitely taken by professional paparazzi.

Halley had good connections in the industry and could usually dig up some information.

Halley replied: [Okay, I'll let you know once I find out.]

I put down my phone and glanced at Neil's car through the windshield. He was still sitting there.
