Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 200

I hadn't heard from Neil for almost half a month, either in the real world or online.

My relationship with Russel had been the talk of the town. It even affected my dad, but Neil seemed unfazed by all the attention.

Turned out that he hadn't been idle; he got over his issues with Bonnie and chose to be with her.

I recall Neil asking me if I'd mind if he and Bonnie got together.

"I wish you guys the best." I said while chuckling and looking calmly at Bonnie.

"Irene, I should thank you. If it weren't for you and Russel being together, Neil might never have realized that I'm the one for him and chosen to accept me. So don't miss our engagement party!" Bonnie said, pulling an invitation from her bag. "I've had your invite ready for a while, just waiting to give it to you. Since I ran into you today, here it is."

I flipped through the invite. Neil and Bonnie's engagement party was at the end of next month.

The name ‘Neil’ on the invite was printed in a uniform font; it was very conspicuous. I suddenly remembered that when we were getting married, I wrote the names and dates on our invites.

I used to think that writing invites for our wedding was the happiest thing.

"What the hell are we going to that for?!" Barbara snatched the invite and tore it up, tossing it on the ground. "Bonnie, can't you have a little shame?"

Bonnie just laughed, "It's okay. If you don't want to come, you don't have to. We just wanted to let everyone know so no one says we're rude."

I pulled out thirty dollars from my bag and tossed it at Bonnie, "I won't be attending. This is my gift to you. Given our relationship, thirty dollars should suffice, right?"

Bonnie's smile finally froze. Clearly, thirty dollars was an insult.

"Irene, you're going too far!" Bonnie picked up the thirty dollars, fuming. "You're with Russel now; what more do you want? Are you trying to play both sides, so you can have both Russel and Neil hopelessly in love with you?"

I stood up, looking down at Bonnie sitting on the sofa, all worked up. "You've got a dirty mind, so you think everyone else is just as dirty."

"You..." Bonnie was speechless with rage.

"Let's go, Barbara," I said.

It was a bit uncomfortable to be in the same store as Bonnie, who was probably here to pick out an engagement dress. Barbara started to leave, then hesitated, asking carefully, "Irene, are you okay? Don't be upset over someone like Neil."

I laughed, "What are you talking about? My boyfriend is Russel; how could I still be upset over Neil? He and Bonnie are meant for each other."

They really were a match made in heaven.

"Right, wait for me; I need to cancel the wedding dress appointment!" Barbara suddenly chimed in.

In her rush to leave, she didn't get a chance to cancel the wedding dress appointment with the shop owner. So she gave me the car keys and went back in.

I went to the car just as Bonnie came out of the bridal shop. She glanced at me, then said into her phone, "I'm on the side of the road; can you see me?"

Not far away, Neil's familiar Maybach slowly approached.

I quickly got in the car and shut the door.
