Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 236

I was hoping Russel could help me out; the information he had was pretty crucial to me.

But at that moment, I was all out of faith.

Maybe I was too overconfident. Sure, in my previous life, Russel would have gone nuts for Bonnie Tueley, just like Neil Whitmore, and fight against everyone. But how could I have been certain that he would go crazy for me in this life?

Didn't Neil's mad love for Bonnie change?

I kept quiet, at a loss for words. After my dad was framed, I could see my future with Russel.

"Why wait for Russel when I'm here?" Neil asked again, hope shining in his eyes as he waited for my response.

What if I accept Neil's help? We can't keep out of each other's hair then. And what would my dad think?

My mom had a heart attack because I asked Neil for help, and she was still unconscious. It's a huge burden for me.

I was torn inside, and the air was heavy with tension.

"Forget it; even if you need my help, you'd still make me beg," disappointment showed on Neil's face. He stood up and said, "If you ever want my help, come find me. Until then, I'm hands-off."

He went to the kitchen for a bit and then left.

Just then, Harold came down from upstairs. He must have heard my conversation with Neil; he looked at me seriously and said, "Rena, you can't have anything to do with Neil. Even though your dad's situation is serious, you can't go to him for help. If your dad knew, he'd rather rot in jail than have you do this!"

Harold and my dad are brothers. One's a businessman, the other a politician, yet their personalities are pretty similar.

Neither of them thinks highly of Neil.

"Harold, did you find out any useful information? I know my dad wouldn't abuse his power; you know his character," I was worried sick. "As for the rumors about him messing around, I've sorted that out. It's all false."

I used some cash to find Geneva's husband and got him to admit to the plot. So then, some of the public was on my dad's side.

Thinking about my dad, not knowing where he's locked up or if he was suffering, it was like a needle in my heart.

"I'm trying to get some inside information from an old friend. He promised to get back to me in a few days after asking around," Harold comforted me, "Rena, you're the only daughter of your parents. You must make the right decisions. Don't act on impulse."

I nodded, Neil's words echoing in my mind. To that day, he was the most influential person I knew. If I wanted to solve my dad's problem fast, he was the best bet.

But Harold's words reminded me that I can't compromise easily. Neil would have definitely had terms.

That night, I barely slept. The next day, I was so tired when I got to the office.

Not long after I arrived, my assistant told me that a woman named Chloe Reynolds wanted to see me.
