Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 321

"Nurse, I don't know this man; can you get him out of here?"

Maybe it was because I had seen enough crazy stuff, but my gut feeling was now as sharp as a razor.

The nurse gave the guy a look, and her alarm bells instantly went off. She said sternly, "Leave; don't disturb the patient, or I'll call security!"

The man glared at me with such a chill. I didn't know him, but he looked at me like I was his worst enemy.

With the medical staff present, he didn't dare linger. He made up an excuse, "Sorry, wrong room."

And with that, he turned and left.

Even after he left, I still had the creeps. I didn't know this place well, and being here alone felt risky.

After a bit of thinking, I decided to call Neil.

"You better take good care of Irene! If you go after that tramp Bonnie again, I swear I'll cut ties with you!" Just as I dialed the number, the hospital room door burst open, and Faith's voice echoed from afar.

Soon, Neil's phone started ringing. He glanced at the caller ID, then at me.

I immediately hung up, but Faith still noticed. "Irene, were you just calling Neil? Are you scared he'll go see Bonnie?"

Caught off guard by her smug face, I was momentarily speechless.

Neil glanced at her and explained. "It was a call from the office."

"I was just calling Hannah to update her on the situation." I denied it too.

Faith's face fell, but she quickly put on a smile. "Okay, I'm going to grab something to eat while you chat."

With that, she left, leaving me and Neil alone.

After Faith left, Neil and I exchanged a look of mutual helplessness. Keeping people in the dark was for their own protection, but Faith was clearly overthinking things.

Thinking back to the man earlier, I told Neil, "Ask the doctor if I can leave tomorrow to continue treatment in Rosemont."

"What happened? It's fine to wait until you're better before going back." Neil seemed to disagree.

"There was a guy here just now; I got bad vibes from him. It's better to get out of here sooner rather than later." I voiced my concerns.

The Morse family was also in the hospital. What would I tell Hannah if anything happened to them?

Neil frowned. His train of thought was now similar to mine. "You think that man is Hannah's husband?"

I nodded, "Yes. And I suspect he's involved in the arson, like Bonnie."

Neil didn't say a word; he was deep in thought. I was also lost in my doubts. Suddenly, I remembered someone.

I called Malinda, whom I had put in a secluded place not only to avoid Bonnie but also to give her a quiet place to recover.

Neil watched me, not interrupting.

"Malinda, when Bonnie and Oscar were together, did she share everything about their relationship with you?" I asked.

"Yes, we were very close during that time." Malinda replied.
