Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 365

I guess I underestimated Ethan Foster and Gloria.

Even though they were both behind bars, one only got a three-and-a-half-year sentence, and the other one got extradited due to her foreign nationality. It was hard to say if they were really punished or not.

But there was also some good news. Dad had finally been released, and new investigations into Oscar's death concluded that Bonnie was the one to blame.

Oscar was about to leave Rosemont, but Bonnie invited him over for one last time. He went, but never came back.

Hannah Morse was so angry when she learned the truth about Oscar's death that she could have killed Bonnie on the spot. But Bonnie had already been arrested, so she could only be punished by law.

And it was not just about Oscar. Bonnie had a lot of other dirty laundry that had been aired in the tapes that Malinda gave me. Even if she wasn’t in jail, she'd be condemned by everyone.

"Dad!"

My mom and I stood outside the prison, waiting for my dad. When he appeared, I couldn't help but shout.

My mother’s eyes reddened, and she walked up to greet him with me.

After seeing Mom and me, Dad couldn’t contain his excitement. He hugged us tightly, and at that moment, I felt like our family was complete.

On our way home, I told my dad all about what had happened lately.

After listening, he frowned. "Are you and Neil planning to get back together?"

My mom sighed. "I don’t approve, but Neil did put in a lot of effort for you to overturn the case. And ever since you came back, he's been trying to make amends. It’s your call."

"What do you think?" Dad turned to me and asked.

Lately, I have been in touch with Neil. We hadn't cut off contact completely because of Karina, but we had been talking less.

He must have known by now that Hiram was his son. He must be feeling pretty confused.

I shook my head and said, "I'm not sure. Should we leave this place? Mom said she wants to give up the company."

"Give up the company?" Dad was taken aback. He knew that was the company Mom had worked so hard to build. He used to tell her not to work so hard, but she never listened. Now she was the one who wanted to give up.

"Yes, I've realized that health is much more important. As long as our family is safe and healthy, that's enough. Rosemont isn't right for us. I want to live somewhere else." My mom was looking at me the whole time she was saying this, and I knew it was mostly for my sake.

If there were no more complications between Neil and me, Mom would never want to leave here.

I didn't avoid her gaze. Instead, I asked, "If I leave here, it means I might never see Russel again. Can you accept that?"

"Yes." Mom replied very firmly. "If it’s meant to be, we’ll see each other again."

Her answer made me feel a bit better. I didn't want to force myself to be with someone I didn't love.

When I got home, Hannah had prepared a lavish dinner to welcome my father back. We hadn't eaten together like this in a long time. It felt like a dream.
