"Roger that."
Russel didn't go into detail on the phone. Instead, he hung up first.
Although I had my doubts, I didn't ask. The relationship between him and Karina was complicated, and they wouldn’t easily disclose their problems to me.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Russel and I parted ways. He went to visit Hiram while I headed straight for Faith's room.
Faith probably didn't know about Hiram's condition, and her mood seemed relatively calm today. Seeing me, a smile appeared on her face, "Irene, you're here."
"Faith, have you had lunch yet?" It was about lunchtime, so I asked.
"I have, what about you? Did you eat on your way here?" Faith gently countered.
I shook my head, just thinking about what to grab for lunch when someone brought food.
It was someone sent by Neil, and naturally, the food was very hearty.
Faith asked, "Where's Neil? Why didn't he come?"
"Madam, Mr. Whitmore is currently occupied, he should be here in the afternoon," the man politely replied.
"I see." Faith's tone seemed a bit heavy. After the man who brought the food left, she turned to me, "Irene, I heard that the person who tried to barge in yesterday was Karina, is that right? Is Neil with her now?"
Faith always worried that Neil agreed to keep the child and give up Karina mainly because she opposed it, so she was always concerned that Neil would get entangled with Karina again.
Just like he did with Bonnie.
This was something Faith would find out. She could easily ask any doctor or nurse in the hospital.
"Yes, it was her." I nodded, "But don't worry, Neil is unlikely to change his mind again."
"He's a man who loves children. If it's for the child, he might really..." Faith's face turned serious. Since Hiram came back, he brought a lot of joy but also a lot of trouble.
I didn't tell Faith about Hiram's situation; I just quietly listened to her talk. This was her worry, and sometimes pouring it all out helped to ease her mind.
All I could do was listen; I couldn't offer much advice.
Just as Faith and I were chatting in the room, Neil's figure appeared at the door. He didn't call out to us and probably had been standing there for a while.
"What are you doing standing there?" Faith seemed a bit upset when she saw Neil, "What did Karina want yesterday? Where's Hiram? Don't tell me you let her take him!"
"Hiram's feeling a bit under the weather. He's in the hospital." Neil came over and sat by the bed, and I was taken aback. I didn't expect him to tell Faith so directly. Considering Faith's current state, she shouldn't be given more to worry about.
As expected, upon hearing this, Faith became immediately concerned, "What's going on? What's wrong with Hiram?"
But Neil didn't give a clear answer, either because the test results weren't out yet or because he didn't want to tell Faith in detail.
