It didn't matter if it hurt or not, it needed some attention—a Band-Aid at the very least.
After fetching a Band-Aid for Russel and cleaning up the kitchen, my mind was already racing ahead to the next steps.
I needed my folks and Stella's help for this next part. Wasn't sure if my parents would be on board, but I gave them a call anyway, laying out the situation for them.
I hadn't really gone into detail about Neil's condition with them over the past few days in Eldoria. They were clueless about his current state.
“Paralyzed?” The word seemed to shock my mom when it slipped from my lips.
“Yeah, he got it trying to save me. Can't feel anything from the waist down, can't walk.” I let out a heavy sigh, the memory of Neil diving to protect me sending shivers down my spine.
Mom was taken aback by the severity of it all, at a loss for words for a moment.
In that silence, I spilled everything about why Neil didn't want to see me and what I planned to do, waiting anxiously for her response.
Their stance was neutral—not against, but not exactly supportive either, though definitely softer than before. But that didn't mean they were ready to jump into action.
About a minute later, Mom finally spoke, “Alright, your dad and I will bring the kids over tomorrow.”
I was taken aback by her agreement, managing only a thankful “thank you,” unable to express much more.
With my parents sorted, getting Stella and the rest on board was a breeze. They agreed to my plan without hesitation.
With everything arranged, I informed Russel, who had no objections. Instead, he was browsing through custom wedding dress designs. I glanced at his phone screen, hesitating before asking, “Why are you looking at that?”
“If we're going to put on a show, it needs to feel real. I'm picking out the fastest custom shop,” Russel replied with a smile.
“Any off-the-rack dress would do. We might not even need it,” I said, not wanting to dampen Russel's spirits but knowing this was just leading him on a wild goose chase. The plan was simple: bring my parents and the kids over, pretending they were here for our wedding. If Neil could still ignore me after that, it wasn't meant to be.
Even if Kitty told me Neil still loved me, I couldn't keep going like this.
Russel shook his head, “No, it has to be well-prepared. Don't worry about me getting too caught up, I just don't want Neil to spot any flaws and mess up your plan.”
He had a point. I mulled it over and agreed silently.

The doorbell rang around noon the next day.
Rushing to the door, I found my parents with Serena and Brandon, all looking weary from their journey. Seeing them filled me with joy, especially the kids who seemed to grow so much each day.
“Mom, Dad!” I greeted, scooping up Serena into a hug.
