Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 687

From a young age, Irene always thought she was blessed.

Born into a loving family, excelling in school, and eventually marrying the love of her life.

But before she even hit 30, her world had crumbled, leaving her at the brink of her life.

She watched her parents weep before her, her heart aching with sorrow, yet deep down, she was obsessively thinking about Neil.

Would Neil, knowing she was terminally ill with cancer, come to see her? Would he soften at all?

Why, even now, was she fixated on the man who had been nothing but cruel to her?

Irene couldn't understand it, but with her condition, surgery was off the table. All that was left were chemotherapy and palliative care.

She managed to get discharged and immediately called Neil upon returning home.

As always, her call was rejected.

Irene then sent Neil a message: "I've got breast cancer, it's terminal. I just want to talk, can we?"

This time, Neil replied: "If you're sick, get treated. I'm not a doctor. I can't cure you."

Reading his cold response, Irene felt like she was losing her mind. She had done everything to win Neil's heart, but why, even in her darkest hour, did Neil show no affection towards her?

"Rena, can you stop thinking about him, please?" Stella and the girls came over, their eyes red and puffy, "Let's go on a trip, see the most beautiful places, and forget about the jerk. Don't let him hurt you till the very end, okay?"

Ever since they learned about Irene's diagnosis, apart from the Finch family, her friends, Stella, and the others were devastated, barely able to hold back tears whenever they saw Irene.

They couldn't bear to see Irene suffer any longer.

In her final days, as her best friends, they wanted her to be truly happy, not consumed by a toxic relationship.

"I can't let go, Stella. Even if I die, I won't accept this..." Irene barely had the energy to speak, the cancer taking a toll on her.

Meanwhile, Neil was probably with Bonnie, happily looking forward to their future.

Hearing Irene's words made her friends cry even harder, but they felt powerless to make Neil regret his actions.

---

"Neil..."

Meanwhile, Mitch looked uneasily at Neil, having heard about Irene's condition from Russel.

Although he knew Neil never really loved Irene, considering she had loved him for so many years and they were still married, it seemed only humane to show some concern...
