Rise from Ashes: Her Epic Comeback novel Chapter 9

In a blink of an eye, a cup of hot water came flying out of nowhere, landing smack-dab on Nicole's chest.

She jolted up, her intended slap for Luna missing its target.

"Who was it? Who threw hot water at me?!"

Nicole was fuming, and looking down, she saw Louis holding an empty cup. Without a second thought, she charged at him, grabbing his collar as if she was going to slap him.

But, the hand she swung was caught by Flavia mid-air. The grip was so tight, it felt like her bones were being crushed.

"You bully my kids when I'm not around and you're still as rude as ever."

Flavia roughly shoved her hand away. She crouched down to pull Louis and Luna into her arms.

Nicole was so angry she almost stomped her feet. Pointing a finger at Luna, she yelled, "Your daughter slapped my son. Either let me slap her back or you do it yourself!"

Flavia turned her head, and saw a handprint on Brody's face.

Luna would never hurt anyone without provocation.

"Mom, it's not Luna's fault." Louis spoke up, "Brody started it. He called Luna a mute and spat at her."

Louis's voice was filled with guilt. He had left them for less than five minutes to ask about the chips Matt wanted. Luna was being bullied in that short time. It was his fault, making mom worry again...

Hearing her son's words, Flavia's anger surged. There were two things she could not tolerate. One was calling her kids 'bastards', and the other was making fun of Luna's illness.

Nicole had crossed both lines.

"Slap!"

The crisp sound of a slap echoed in the living room.

Nicole widened her eyes, "You...you hit me. I'll kill you!"

She threw away her act of decency and rushed at Flavia like a madwoman, reaching for her throat. Flavia swiftly dodged her, causing Nicole to fall face-first onto the floor, hurting her face.

Her forehead was bleeding. Nicole had never been so humiliated, she wanted to tear Flavia apart.
