The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 220

Brittany ducked out of the dinner event, planning to head straight home. She had promised to take the old lady out for a bite, so she couldn't afford to waste any more time. She pulled out her phone, only to realize that she had forgotten to charge it in the morning rush and it had died on her.

As she got into the elevator, she picked the most secluded corner to stand in. Soon, a few women dressed to the nines joined her in the lift.

"Did you catch the news? Loraine's in the hospital, apparently she's allergic to silver."

"Didn't she have Brittany's studio design her jewelry set? Could Brittany have done it on purpose?"

"Everyone online is throwing shade at Brittany. I saw a bunch of scaredy-cats in the parking lot earlier, probably gunning for Brittany."

"At the last dinner, Loraine was all over Brittany, but who knew Brittany was such a tough cookie. Loraine may have met her match this time."

"Ha!" Someone chuckled. "My brother just told me Loraine made several unsuccessful moves on Mr. Salter. He helped Brittany the last time, I bet she couldn't swallow that."

"But isn't Mr. Salter married already?"

"Yeah, but no one knows who he married, it's been a while and still no public announcement. I'm starting to think his wife might have gotten in his good books by getting pregnant?"

"Or maybe they got hitched in a secret wedding, and he married a nobody?"

"That's impossible, there's no way Mr. Salter would marry a nobody. You think this is some kind of romance novel?"

"That's just too much!"

The women were so engrossed in their gossip that they didn't notice Brittany standing in the corner.

A tycoon marrying a nobody was indeed far-fetched, such things hardly ever happened in real life.

Having caught the juicy bit, she changed her plan. After the women exited the elevator, Brittany headed back to the dressing room.

She switched into a man's outfit, tucked her long hair under a hat, stuck a fake beard on her face to cover her delicate features, splashed some booze on herself, then took off.

For safety, she ditched her car in the parking lot and left straight from the first floor.

Luckily, she had some cash on her and hailed a taxi back to her apartment.
