Before Isaac had a chance to digest the news, Nathan rushed into the hallway, his eyes full of anxiety. "Mr. Salter, we're in deep shit; the press is here!”
“They got wind of it. They're saying Ms. Dustin is a murder suspect, and the evidence is overwhelming…"
Nathan was cut off by the sound of Isaac slamming his fist against the wall with eyes filled with rage. "Get a hold on the news!"
Nathan was taken aback by Isaac's fury. In all his years with Isaac, he'd never seen him this pissed off, even more so than when he was conned by Manuel Salter three years ago.
"Alright."
As soon as the news of Brittany's incident spread, Hannah hurried over. "How's Bri?"
Isaac sat in the corridor, the dried blood on him giving off a chilling aura.
Hannah paled at the sight of the blood on Isaac. Was all this blood Brittany's?
"She's pregnant."
"What about the baby?"
Hannah felt a pang in her heart at the sight of the blood on his hands.
"We saved it."
Isaac's voice was hoarse, devoid of its usual grace, and now replaced with confusion.
Hannah took a deep breath to compose herself.
When Brittany was brought out of the emergency room, Isaac quickly stood up.
She was covered in wounds; the once cheerful and bright girl now seemed as fragile as porcelain. He didn't dare touch her.
Hannah clenched her fists at the sight of the bruise on her face; it took her a while to suppress her anger.
Brittany was moved to a VIP ward, with Isaac staying by her side all the time.
There were so many things Hannah wanted to say, but she didn't know where to start.
Loraine's cause of death was made public. Brittany's fingerprints were on the murder weapon, so all evidence pointed to Brittany.
Nathan tried to exert pressure behind the scenes, but it didn't work out well.
Some people took advantage of the situation and dug up the past between Brittany and Loraine. Overnight, Brittany became the target of public criticism.
