Now, he's been working his butt off for so long, and the cash he's raking in can't even cover what he used to blow in an hour!
"That's not too shabby."
Brittany raised her hand, and Noel immediately chimed in, "Brittany, don't sweat it. I’ll work even harder!"
Brittany couldn't help but laugh, "You're busting your hump for yourself; you don't have to fill me in."
Noel arched his eyebrow, "By the way, Brittany, are you hitched?"
"I sure am."
...
There's a BBQ joint near the studio, perfect for the winter season.
She led Noel into the BBQ joint, and a wave of warm air mixed with the enticing smell of spicy cabbage hit them. The waiter greeted them, and they sat down.
Brittany ordered some meat and slid the menu over to Noel, "See anything you fancy?"
Noel, with his chin propped in his hand, was clearly still hung up on Brittany being married, "Brittany, how long have you been hitched?"
"Almost a year."
Brittany poured herself a glass of juice and took a sip.
Time sure flew. Last year around this time, she was looking forward to spending Christmas with Finn Boulton.
This year, she had started a family with Isaac and they even would have a kid.
Noel looked like he'd been doused in cold water. He ordered a couple of dishes, his face expressionless.
"What's the matter?" Brittany noticed his low spirits, thinking he was having trouble at work, "Run into any obstacles at work?"
"No, work's all good."
Noel just thought he came back too late. If he had known, he would've returned sooner. Perhaps she wouldn't have been hitched.
But Noel is a good sport. He started to talk about his work.
Brittany knew a bit about finance, so she could hold her own in the conversation.
They chatted and ate, and the atmosphere was quite chill.
They didn't notice that there was someone on the second floor watching them.
"Brittany, you've given me some ammunition!" Joie sneered. She knew that a woman like Brittany couldn't possibly be a good girl.
