The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 663

Victoria was the kind of person who could lure Harold into bed without a second thought, so messing with his badge was no big deal for her.

She took his badge because she didn't want him to leave. Sure, tampering with a badge might seem minor, but to Harold, it was a symbol of his beliefs, and Victoria treated it like a joke.

How could Harold tolerate that? Even with his normally cool demeanor, this crossed the line.

“My... badge... Where is it?” Harold turned, his words measured and deliberate, glaring at Victoria with fire in his eyes.

“What badge?” Victoria played dumb, genuinely rattled by the rage in Harold's eyes.

“The one from my cap? Stop pretending,” Harold snapped. He knew it wasn’t right to lose his temper at the Ronans' place, but his anger toward Victoria had been festering ever since she tricked him into bed.

Victoria grabbed his cap and saw the frayed threads where the badge had been. “I don’t know, Harold. Maybe you lost it?”

“Lost it? It was there when I put my cap on the couch earlier. Why can’t you just admit you don’t want me to leave?” Harold's temper flared even more.

Victoria was a wildcat, her intentions always transparent to him. Without his cap badge, he couldn’t get back into the base.

“Don’t flatter yourself, Harold!” Victoria shot back, her own temper igniting. Harold was usually easygoing, but around Victoria, his patience evaporated.

Emerson and Daniella watched from the sidelines, sensing that these two were like a powder keg ready to explode.

Seeing Harold's rage, Daniella clung to Emerson’s arm. Her father, a military man himself, had always been gentle, so Harold’s outburst was terrifying to her.

“Don’t blame Dr. Victoria,” Janice tried to calm her son. “Why would she do something like that?”
